What do you think about Q character?

I think he was the best written and the most smartest character in entire star trek series, yes he was also most annoying character, aside Wesley Crusher of of course

 

But i wonder why Q not intervened when Jean-Luc Piccard nephew died in the fire (In Star Trek: The Next Generation motion picture) he might save they boy, and would be also nice cameo appearance of Q in the movie

At first they tried to make Q a serious threat, which failed miserably. But then they turned him into a comic foil, in which role he was delightful.

The thing I find most impressive about Q is how little screen time he actually got, compared to how iconic his character is - 8 TNG, 1 DS9, 3 VOY - 12 episodes total.

Every time I see John de Lancie in another role I immediately think of Q.

Quite honestly, I don't like the idea of an all-powerful being or race.  

But John de Lanci's brilliant and hysterical acting ability made Q an exception to that rule.

I always thought he had the most awesome stuff for Bond, but in the Roger Moore films, it went the way of everything else and tried too much for comedy.
