A quick n00b question...

Recommended Posts

OK, I have been playing the game for years, and yes, I use mechjeb.... BUT...

I built a space tug, which would be docked with the space station when I build it. The tug is to help dock new parts to the station without having excess clutter like engines attached to them, meaning, the tug will provide the engines etc... I want to do the docking, or try to, by hand without aids. The tug is powered by RCS thrusters only...

But when I turn on the RCS with the R key, and use WSAD and QEAD .... the ship doesn't behave like I want it to,.

I mean... I want the W key to move me forward... the S key, backwards... A and D sideways... (or at least, that is what I expect to happen)

Now here is the n00b question.... what are the keys to achieve this or what am I doing wrong?

I want to do this myself so I can learn the basics of going EVA... with or without a tug... in fact, when I first went EVA ages ago... well.... lets say I never forgave myself for the wasted Kerbals... So I never did again... that has to change.

anyone? and Thanks for reading, even more thanks if you help me out. :)

I think you want the translation keys ijklhn, not the rotation keys wasdqe.

Also note you'll be off center a lot so your RCS translation thrusts will also provide torque. Not much you can do about that except pack extra reaction wheels and correct manually a lot.
