As I updated the mod to version 1.0.1, I can now answer you question more clearly:

Label is hidden while all GUI is hidden (F2 by default) and also label is hidden after four seconds after appearing (activating IVA camera or switching kerbal in IVA).

umm an idea came to my mind, can you make it so that if rpm is installed instead of a flat text on monitor, we would have a little tiny panel somewhere in iva showing the name in it? it doesn't need to fit to every iva model, but making it a bit wise then you could make a floating nice looking panel or something?

Oh maaan! I've came to even more exciting idea!

What if I do some kind of holographic display inside IVA helmet, with some kerbinaut stats

Something like this

nice but how would it behave if we have texture replacer to remove helmets inside capsules?
