Since yesterday was the launch of Apollo 11, I decided to recreate the launch in KSP. So, I will post this mission report as it goes along, posting one post a day to summarized what happened on that day in real life. As for today, I will post what happened today and yesterday. So, lets begin!

Chapter 1: Day 1

The rest of the launch is rather boring, so I hadn't took pictures of the launch.

The third stage igniting to plot a Moon Intercept.

And that concludes our first day.

Chapter 2: Day 2

The second day is rather ineventful, so there are only four images:

I've done a real time Apollo 11 in Orbiter before. Haven't yet tried one in KSP. Since I was born about 15 minutes before the launch, I've always had a bit of a connection.

I'll have to put my time off request in now to get that week for next year.

Best of luck on your journey. Hope you brought a lot of books!

When I landed on Mun for the first time, I only had about 5% of fuel remaining in the descent stage, so at least in that way I was true to the Apollo 11 experience.

But the guys on board where happy to make it down in one piece.

When I posted this topic yesterday, I was watching SpaceX's CRS-9 launch from KSC. The first stage successfully landed at LZ-1.

Here is the hosted webcast:
