  1. Heya! This is my first try at doing one of these mission report series things so I don't know if you guys will like it or not Anyways, this series is basically just career mode but with a BUNCH of IRL parts mods installed (BDB, Tantares, RN Probes/Rockets, etc.) And also History of Spaceflight for contracts Pretty much the space race but kerbalized This will also include a WHOLE bunch of world building so anyone whos a fan of that will like this hopefully So I guess I should make my save now!
  2. The Idea: The International Space Station is one of humanities greatest achievements. Like many others I love the ISS, mods and Kerbal Space Program, naturally you would mix all 3. A little over a year ago I began an endeavor to accurately construct the ISS in order and document it on reddit. Since then time has passed and I have vastly improved in my ship creation and screenshot taking skills. I knew when I stopped the first time I'd revisit the idea and now is the time! The goal of this whole thing is to use Kerbal Space Program and a vast library of mods to document every flight to the ISS and its construction in order. Myself@lemon cup and @D0m1nu2 work hard on this project and we're very excited to work on documenting the sheer greatness that surrounds the ISS and it's missions! My Inspiration: The idea isn't original and born of several things including another series I created focusing on Shuttle Missions called Shuttle Adventures! These missions are created by not only myself but other like minded Kerbal players.   3. Introduction About a week ago, I embarked on a quest - a quest to recreate Space Station Freedom from the Alternate History, "Eyes Turned Skywards". I wanted a Challenge, something Cool to do, & something to share and show on the forums. So this will be where I document the creation and assembly of the Station However, this will be my Interpretation of it, as firstly, it's more entertaining to recreate it in your own style/way, and also, I haven't read too much of ETS yet ( I keep meaning to, but I always forget ). For example, this is extremely evident in how I chose to make most of the Ports CBM's and not APAS's like in ETS. this is for a number of reasons, but mainly that the APAS are a smaller diameter than the Modules, and using an adapter doesn't look the best. Where are we? Currently, I have launched the first 4 Flights. Over the next few days, I will post them, making way for the "new" stuff. I'm aiming for a new mission every few days or so (Let's see how that goes ) Mods My Modlist fluctuates a little, but for the most part, the main bits are: -BDB (Note - As my computer is pretty bad, I have pruned most of the files from BDB so my PC doesn't take 1 Hour to load {I'm not joking about that - Sometimes it does}) -Habtech2 -KSRSS 2.5x -Katniss Cape Canaveral 2.5x KSRSS configs -Modular Launch Pads Note: As of now, I am playing in 1.11 as it otherwise, lots of my mods are broken - I will say when I switch to 1.12 Here's the Full modlist as of July 28th: Inspiration I have to say a big thanks to @Kuiper_Belt and his shuttle adventures thread for inspiring me to try something like this.   4. The Idea: Like many others I love The Space Shuttle, mods and Kerbal Space Program, what else could you do but mix all 3 ? That's what I'm doing. A while ago on the subreddit, I did something similar surrounding the ISS. I want to continue that but also expand into other reality based and fictional shuttle missions, adventures if you will. The goal of this whole thing is to use Kerbal Space Program and a large amount of fantastic mods from this community to give everyone a unique vantage point of The Space Shuttle, her missions, their payloads, and hopefully enjoy the wonders and beauty of space and space exploration. I'm currently working on a series in which I recreate famous rockets/spacecraft (heavily inspired by Matt Lowne's Space Race Speedrun and 70 years of Spaceflight by Gordon) and one of the rockets I made was the Goddard-1! A.K.A, the first liquid-fueled rocket ever launched! It took flight on March 16, 1926, in a snowy field in Massachusetts. It was built by Robert H. Goddard, one of our first spaceflight pioneers. It's built with entirely stock parts, but most of them are resized with TweakScale.   6. An accurate ARCAspace EcoRocket mod for KSP I have been slowly working on this mod for KSP over the past week, which introduces the EcoRocket, ARCAspaces steam powered Green Rocket from Romania. So far the mod features all of the parts to construct the current EcoRocket design on the ARCAspace website, and is accurately scaled to real life (although I would not recommend actually using this on RSS or something similar, it will not reach orbit no matter how hard you try) Current features include: All of the parts needed for One EcoRocket Interchangeable Tank variants so you can choose between Flags, Logo, or Plain Custom fuels "Heated Water", "RP-1" and "High Test Peroxide" to adhere to the goal of realism Custom Waterfall plumes for maximum visual satisfaction There is a lot of jank sadly with this mod, as it is my first time ever modding for KSP, so if you have any suggestions, bugs to report, or just words to get across to me, you can contact me through twitter, which is linked on my github page. Some issues: The shading on the two engine nacelles break a lot, but that's just visual, and it may be a problem with some other mods I have, or with my version of PRE.   10. Hello, there! In this series of three videos, I will be recreating the NASA Perseverance Rover mission in KSP 1.11.1. This will not be recreated with full realism because I will be adding a Kerbal touch to the mission. A Seaplane Bomber that Failed to Break any Ground In 1950, the Navy was left without an effective nuclear platform in an era where it needed one to stay relevant in the interservice politics of the day - and the Seamaster was their ticket to changing that. Fleets of seaplane bombers would form a mobile, resilient, and hard to detect striking force with the help and supply of submarines and dedicated support vessels. From there, they could carry nuclear payloads deep into the Soviet Union after launching from places where no Air Force bomber could hope to launch. Despite the many marvels of Engineering that went into making the Seamaster a reality, it was doomed to the history books as a failed project.   14. This is my stock ksp recreation of SpaceX's starhopper test vehicle, which recently hopped 20 meters untethered on July 25, 2019 and will hopefully hop 200 meters in August. It's still a WIP though, but I'm almost done with it!   16. Hello everyone! I want to share with you my project called 'New Kepard'. It was inspired by New Shepard rocket landing: My goal was to recreate it in KSP using the kRPC mod which allows you to write your own scripts to control the vessel. The developement of the project took me much longer than I had originally thought (more than 100 hours). Writing the program which controls the rocket was not the hardest thing. Bugfixing, tweaking, testing and ensuring that the code is prepared for every possible flight scenario was what I spent the most of the time (~75%) on. I am now very happy that I made it to the end and didn't give up. I created two films about my project: The first one was edited to be similar to the original Blue Origin's video The goal of the second film is to show what my project is and how to use it Code and the craft are avaliebe to download on GitHub.   17. I want to recreate a bunch of commercial aircraft on a 1:1 scale, using only stock parts and Tweakscale. This mod greatly increases the accuracy needed when working on a 1:1 scale, while keeping it challenging due to having to build stock. I started of with a Boeing 737MAX7 and it turned out pretty decent. I am not going to put windows or interiors on the planes to at least save a little bit on parts count. This is more about trying to get the shape and size as accurate as possible which is why there is a custom cockpit. This makes the plane have huge drag but she still flies pretty decent!
  18. In addition to the normal Munar/lunar orbit rendezvous(MOR/LOR) architecture, NASA studied several other approaches, that involved 2 rockets. Type 1: Earth/Kerbin Orbital Rendezvous(EOR/KOR) Launch an unmanned lander into LKO, then dock a MK1 pod to it and perform an Apollo-style mission from there. Or: Launch an unmanned booster into LKO, and dock a direct-ascent lander to it(that can land on the Mun and get back to kerbin.) My mission was that kind. Type 2: Joint Lunar Obit Rendezvous Launch an unmanned lander into lunar/munar orbit, then send a MK1 pod to it and perform an Apollo-style mission from there. Scoring: Start with 200 points for completion. Subtract 1 point for each part used. Subtract 5 points for each tech node you use. That is too hard, but if you go low-tech, you'll get the "impress me" 3x bonus. Bonuses: Use RSS or resized kerbin: X2 Bring a rover: X2 Lander is two stage: +10 You couldn't redock in lunar orbit and had to EVA: Divide by 2 Used Mechjeb during flight(OK in VAB): Divide by 2 Use RO: X2 Use KOS: X2 Use any Life Support Mod: X2 Use Asparagus Staging: Divide by 2 Land on minimus: Divide by 2 Instead of using a MK1 pod, used a small shuttle: X2 No fuel transfer at all: X2 Impress me: X3 For example, if you launched a 50 part lander(parts include launcher!) and a 60 part command module, with life support, mechjeb, and asparagus staging, your score will be 45. Leader boards Type 1(EOR/KOR): 1. sevenperforce- 1044 points 2. DAL59- 140 points 3. 4. 5. Type 2(LOR/MOR) 1. mk1980- 1304 points 2. sevenperforce- 316 points 3. 53miner53- 268 points 4. 5. 6.   19. Mars 2020 is a rover that will be the first part of NASA's Mar's Sample Return program. Challenge: Build a rover, sent it to Duna, and collect data from three different biomes. Your rover must have three detachable science storage units. These represent the caches the rover leaves behind. Then, send another mission, a comsat, to Duna, that has a detachable drive. Then, sent a Mars ascent vehicle, that will pick up the containers, and take them to Duna orbit. Then, the comsat's drive unit will take them back to Kerbin. Note: You do not have to physically bring the containers back to Kerbin. You can transfer the science into another container. You can transfer science through a claw or docking. Score: 100 points minus total tonnage sent to LKO. Bonus: 2X For having the MAV bring a small rover/hopper to collect the containers. +10 for using ISRU for the MAV 2X For lowering first rover with skycrane 2X for docking drive to Mun station with lab

Due to the anniversary I decided to recreate Apollo 11 lunar landing mission in STOCK KSP (KER was used to help with orbital data).   22. Since yesterday was the launch of Apollo 11, I decided to recreate the launch in KSP. So, I will post this mission report as it goes along, posting one post a day to summarized what happened on that day in real life. As for today, I will post what happened today and yesterday. So, lets begin! Chapter 1: Day 1 Yesterday, July 16, is the launch of Apollo 11 Here Jeb, Bill and Bob get ready to launch. The launch tower retracts before launch T-minus 10, 9, 8 , 7 , 6, 5... 4, 3, 2, 1, ignition... Liftoff, Liftoff for Apollo 11! We have cleared the tower! The rest of the launch is rather boring, so I hadn't took pictures of the launch. The third stage igniting to plot a Moon Intercept. And that concludes our first day.
