commets

Has anyone looked at implementing this, I was just thinking of how stoked I would be if I could do maneuvers just to figure out how to sling onto one. Ya know just like we did the other year? It would be interesting, are there any mods?

No, there currently are no mods for 'comets'. However, there are plenty of asteroids floating around out there that you can do the same thing with. You can find them using the Tracking Station.

You could probably make a comet texture for stock asteroids and make them spawn in highly eccentric orbits like real life comets. I'm sure there are enough modding tools to make this possible. Try asking in the add-on discussion, maybe some modder will get interested… I personally would love to make a comet mod, but I lack texturing and programming skills

@ZentroCatson Actually...

The mod is mostly feature-complete, but not there yet in visual terms. Comets are present but don't have trails, nor are there different textures/models for different types of asteroids, but at least the latter is planned.

Bear in mind that it is intended to be combined with OPM, so it'll be absurdly far away from anything else in the stock system.
