Hi guys! This is my space taxi 2. After space taxi 1 resulted in the worst possible accident ever that I have had happen to me, I completely scrapped it and started a smaller version. This can take 7 Kerbals to Kerbin orbit, possibly (but untested) the Mun's orbit, and back to Kerbin safely. Any suggestions are welcome and will be added to space taxi 3, the next version I am working on.

Thanks!

It is quite a decent craft. To improve it I would replace all 5 mainsail engines with skipper engines as they are more efficient. I also think all the wings are weighing it down too much, I would replace them with smaller movable winglets. For a first upload I would say it is pretty good.

Ok thanks! I am going to add this to Space Taxi 3, which will also replace the current crew cabin with the mk3 one, allowing for even more people to board. Seeing as I can only just barely reach the mun, I never took efficiency or weight into account for a shuttle like this.

Edit:

Do you know what the best movable winglets would be? I hardly use them so I'm not sure whats best for this kind of shuttle. The only time I use them is on my airplanes.

Personally I would use the AV-R8 Winglet

Also if imgur does not work for you, you could use dropbox instead

I would say if you go for the AV-R8 winglets you would only need one on each external orange tank (they are quite good). In addition I would suggest putting the outer orange fuel tanks on a decoupler and adding a fuel line from each to the central tank as it is not a reusable craft. You`ll probably need a couple of struts to hold them steady (possibly not) but then when you stage them off you will still have a full fuel tank in the middle which will extend your burn time on the way to orbit (and beyond maybe)

It will give you more Dv anyway. It may let you use a smaller, more efficient vacuum oriented engine for your central tank as well.

Asparagus staging would make it more efficient, I just didn't want to over complicate it for the OP. From my brief test it didn't seem to need any more struts

Thanks

I am new to asparagus staging, and also, the 4 outer boosters are supposed to fire without the central doing firing as well. The staging is: 4 outer boosters, they detach, fire central booster. Wouldn't asparagus staging require all 5 engines going at the same time? Space Taxi  uses the same engine set up, but will have docking abilities, and more people storage. I still need the 4 mainsails because 4 skippers can't lift Space taxi 3 off he ground. I won't be editing space taxi 2 since I do not know how to edit an already released shuttle on kerbalx

Asparagus staging would require all 5 engines to fire at the same time but that would also give you more thrust. If space taxi 3 is only a little heavier the 5 skippers with asparagus staging might provide enough thrust

The added weight is 1 mk3 crew cabin, 1  mk3 rcs tank, and the removed weight is the wings switched. This is going to have docking capabilitie.

  1. Pics
  2. Don't beg for popularity

^ This.

In order to get popular, people have to know exactly what your ship does that theirs don't. They're pretty much going to have to look at it. So... pics, preferably video.

Without that, your ship will never be popular no matter what you do so there's no point in talking about why.

Best,
-Slashy

*EDIT* Also... if MMCRP's pics are of your craft... I mean this in the nicest possible way... it's not a particularly outstanding craft. You'd have to make something way more amazing before you can expect people to get excited about it.

Remember, this is a huge community of aerospace geeks and quite a few of us are aerospace engineers by trade. It takes a lot to move the needle around here. Don't take your design's reception (or lack thereof) as anything personal.

Apologies,
-Slashy
