*NEW* Doctor Who Fan Thread

I'm fairly certain there's a Doctor Who thread out there in the great blue yonder that is the ocean of this forum, but I don't feel like necroposting on it when I could make a brand new thread entirely, especially since I have a lot to say! So here is the *NEW* Doctor Who Fan Thread!

I feel I'm a moderately decent scholar on the subject for many reasons; one being I've been watching the new and old series since I was born, and even before then I heard the theme song as a fetus. I know the show like the back of my hand since I've been watching it since a child. Another reason is because I have the benefit of my father's experience of coming into the show at the right time during the 70s. He's met Tom Baker, Patrick Troughton, Peter Davidson and even knew Colin Baker somewhat familiarly. He met all of them in Doctor Who conventions when they were small gatherings rather than the thousands who would storm one now a days. The last reason is that I own a huge collection of the show's history, specifically VHS tapes of the old series. But don't let me be the only voice in the wilderness, I would love to meet someone wiser than me on the subject!

To keep it short here is a spoiler of all the VHS tapes I own of the old series of Doctor Who (this does not include what I own on DVD or digital formats).

Spoiler

A ~4x6x3 block of VHS tapes that I own.

Now it should be noted, that the terms for the 60s-80s version of Doctor Who is known as the old series, to continuation that beginning in 2005 is known as the new series. It's important to clarify which version you are referring to as Doctor Who has evolved over the 50 years it's been running.

So what's your thoughts or experiences with this show?
