Need a workaround for bug related to selecting ship parts in flight

I encountered a bug while preparing a transfer from eve to kerbin. I'm transferring fuel between tanks, I select the first tank and then I can't select any parts whatsoever, even the original tank. Switching from ship to spacecenter and back won't work. Any suggestions please? This bug only seems to pop up after I've hit the icon in the top right corner of the fuel info window to pin it

I'm on PS4.  When this happens I usually have to exit it to the space center (which it seems forces a save of the flight), then close the game and reopen.  Seems to be worse when large ships are involved.

I am having this same issue on Xbox.
