77 Racing - Lowell Gandini 1975

There are two car designers who's work I love the most: Robert Opron, famous for the Citroën DS type 3, the Citroën GS, the Citröen CX and the Citroën SM. The other is Marcello Gandini, famous for the Lamborghini Countach, Miura and Espada, the Alfa Romeo Carabo, the Maserati Khamsin and the Citroën BX, the car I own and drive since 2003. Obviously, my favourite period in car design is the 1970's.

This fictional "Italian" "supercar" is a homage to Gandini. It uses elements of multiple of his designs, most prominently the wedge, the louvres above the engine and the Kamm tail. It's powered by fuel cells and 3 Juno's. As a first it uses a "boost flap" to cut thrust from the jet engines, this works much faster than using the throttle considering the unrealistic spool times of the jet engines in KSP.

Sorry guys, no pop-up headlights on this one.

As far as I'm aware you can instantly cut thrust to a jet by action grouping the intake. It's a trick I picked up from @Cupcake... years ago. :-)

Interesting ... that would indeed work even faster  :-)

I wonder If I can use it with the brake action group though ... think I'll use both. Thanks for the tip!

Edit: closing the intakes instantly cuts thrust, yes. Unfortunately they have to spool up again after opening, which is slow. I'll keep the flap as main toggle, it's good for racing ... no "turbo lag".
