Anybody playing this? Recently released on Steam. I love the idea of it, building a Datsun from scratch while doing odd jobs and basically ruining your body. I've already died once, flipped the van. Second save and I'm about to die of hunger.

Pro-tips:

  • Do not touch the bottle next to the chopping block if you plan to finish a flat bed of wood in any reasonable amount of time.
  • Do not attempt to chop wood after touching said bottle if you've been touching the bottle IRL yourself. Trust me, it's not pretty.
  • Get the radio from your room and put it in the garage, helps lessen the mosquito noises.
  • On the first day, when you wake up, immediate go to town and buy food and drink. You won't regret it.

  • For the rest of the car it shouldn't be too bad, order of assembly may not be a thing (it is IRL).

I have a feeling I'm going to be playing this for awhile, fun Friday night "life sim".

The best part is that it's realistic in terms of me. I spent five years of my life riding and maintaining a 1974 Vespa, scooter club shennanigans and body ruination included. Those little bikes require a lot of maintenance; I had the engine apart in some fashion every three weeks or so. I even tore it completely down and rebuilt it once to put a fresh coat of paint on it. This game is kind of a fun way to relive that without giving up my job, home, and child.

On a more serious note, it's not always the "realism" that I'm looking for, it's the detail. While the cars and trucks in the game may not be fully modelled, or even modelled that well, figuring out how to use them is fun because they have all the little details like hand brakes and diff locks, and searching for the ignition. It's good stuff.

Have to haul some crap or lumber before I spend a bunch of money on the fluids and such, but it's my rally car and I love it.

This is on like, my sixth or seventh run at the game since I play permadeath. Quite a learning curve here.
