Hello,

today i was attempting the kerbal grand tour as in Scott Manley\'s video, and as i was approaching Minmus and working on my periapsis, i saw this :

I have some trouble understanding whats going on with the purple orbit :o

Btw i have edited the cfg for the conic patch settings, both values are 3.

What\'s your opinion ?

Exactly why does the space Kraken occur? It doesn\'t happen all of the time either. It\'s quite... odd and unpredictable. It also seems to get angrier when you turn on an SAS or ASAS.

It has to do with floating point rounding errors in the physics engine I believe.

My experience with it is that it happens most with large ships in kerbol orbit. My kerbol explorer craft often has issues on its first extra-kerbin SOI stage, but once I drop to the fginal stage (even if I\'m going faster) the kraken is gone.

As per ASAS, I find the kraken often reverses or just plain scrambles your controls... eg down will make you go sort of north west. ASAS cannot cope with this at all and just makes you spin massive circles.

Oh i guess then it was just me beeing a n00b :D But finally i start getting what\'s the kraken!

Aren\'t all bugs temporary?

Sometimes temporary bugs becomes long-term solutions ;D

I believe the purple line is your solar orbit drawn in Kerbin\'s perspective.

Yes, but is it realistic or that\'s the result of floating point precision? My coder brain is more comfortable with the latter ;)

Ah. This happened to me in Kerbin orbit just last night while I was practicing Orbital Rendezvous (never really tried it before). I tried twice, round 1 had me pass within 90 meters going way to fast and almost out of fuel. Round 2 was planned more carefully, and i did it, but was not able to clamp onto the nose of my the spaceplane with my makeshift lander-leg-grapple.
