Kerbal series - mod list ideas?

I'm not newbie, but I couldn't find any fitting place for this thread, so I just count on our staff to move it where it belongs;

*sigh* a'ight, let's do it

I'm not a youtuber, but I do have a channel, where I post more or less random Kerbal videos along with other content I produce (for those who haven't seen it yet, here's my Kerbal playlist http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIKMutcKjUo4Sb1JO0X1bXz0QBl3TY7Pq )
So! For few last months I wanted to start new career series, with commentary and stuff (something almost unseen in my videos) but I want it much more modded.

 So here are my ideas:
1> I don't want it too hard, which mean I don't want to spend too much time planning and thinking about what I need and how much - so no life support, that's out of the question, also big no to RO, RSS and all that "lol I am better than NASA" stuff.
2> but i am thinking about FAR, some people say it's too demanding, some can't play without it. I don't know, so I might give it a try.
 3> standard kit KAC-Transferwindowplanner-KER-MJ
4> Kerbals can't be bored.I want to make them something to do aside fromplanting flags. So KAS/KIS willmake them a bit more useful.
5> stock solar system is cool, but I'm close to moment when I've seen everything at least from orbit, so there is where planet packs have space to speak. I do know about outer planets, but maybe there are alternatives that keep stock planets mostly untouched andadd something new? You name it, please recommend.

Now I reach unexplored space and your help is needed, because I don't know that many mods
6> purpose. I shoot Kerbal at random planet and now what? I want him to do something. Constructing a base, whatever is possible. So I'm looking for kolonization and konstruction mods
7> automation? Is it possible? Please tell your ideas.
8> rovers. These are fun and games, but they do nothing except driving around and breaking wheels. Mods?
9> parts. Parts are cool. I like parts. Any good, COMPATIBLE WITH STOCK part packs, that are not too OP?
10> your ideas, not mentioned above. I want to enjoy my game, and maybe make it enjoyable for others.

Help me, Kerbonaut society. You're my only hope.

Planet packs: to add to the stock system, Xen's Planet Collection, Arkas, and Kerbol Origins are all great options which I haven't seen on youtube at all (except one or two short showcase videos for Kerbol Origins a long time ago). Alternatively, New Horizons rearranges things entirely, which can be quite interesting.

Stock-compatible part packs: Near Future mods, Stockalike Station Parts, VX Series II Engine Pack, Modular Rocket Systems, SpaceY, and Lithobraking Engineering Technologies are my recommendations (maybe not Near Future Electrical or Propulsion, depending on whether you would consider them to be too powerful). Also, Fuel Tanks Plus and Color Coded Cannisters are a must-have for aesthetics.

Also, since you mention using KIS/KAS to give kerbals more things to do, you need Surface Experiment Pack. It adds surface science experiments that are KIS/KAS-assembled and gradually gather data over time rather than giving you all of the available data at once. They also provide different amounts of science return based on the level of the kerbal who set them up, so they can lead to missions that revisit your early landing sites if you really want to be exhaustive with science collection.

Mark One Laboratory Extensions and the Buffalo rover parts pack are also great mods that work with KIS/KAS. I particularly like M.O.L.E. because it gives more options for the early game, as well as adding in 1.875m tanks which are useful for aesthetics throughout the game.

Also check out the modpack linked in my description - it's the one I'm using for my long-term career. There are some good mods in there that I haven't mentioned (I prioritized what seemed most likely to suit your purposes) but might be of use to you.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
