swiftgates24
What about the 4th rocky planet? I guess they could push it back but it's not that hard just to make a new one.

CoMac Aerospace
Well in 2001 the monolith is orbiting Jupiter and since we are only getting one gas planet this update, I think it is that

Bekiekutmoar
What about the 4th rocky planet? I guess they could push it back but it's not that hard just to make a new one.Hmmm, that brings me to the following question: how does a developer make a celestial object? I assume there is a gravitational point in space with set parameters, then a collision-model around it and a texture that exactly matches the collision-model. I've made maps for Tomb Raider and Half-life 2 a while (no prof) and thus can image the huge amounts of work involved in the creation of a planet/moon ... ! Guest Thobewill
I'm going to guess it's a Kraken of some sort, probably a monument to its demise.
Stoup
Here is the retouched picture from awhile back, now, try to tell me that over on the left there isn't something tht looks like an eye and a set of jaws. The texture of the top area suggests a underwater picture being taken, and there is something that oddly resembles a space shuttle looking thing to the left. Also, Nova said only one idea has been close to guessing what it is.Ding ding ding I believe we have a winner.Hmm. That picture has me 95% convinced that the object in the foreground is a rocket, and by now I think it's clear the one in the background is a planet/moon.The object behind the rocket, however, has me completely and utterly stumped. Candre
If you look at a1fonso's retouched image you can see at the bottom of the image a very large, dark sphere - a moon or planet that it's orbiting - which is eclipsed by the greenish disc. That leads me to believe that that disc cannot be a planet, but a part itself. My rendition is above, without the supposed Kerbal. Ignore the command pod.EDIT: The light angle is different in the original image, but this should still fitEDIT: Kerbal hanging onto debris? lmnop2
The bottom of the retouched image also looks darker than the rest, indicating a surface instead of the bottom of a sphere? On the other hand, Candre's craft really seems to fitOff-topic: anyone else having trouble viewing the pictures on Nova's profile? swiftgates24
Hmmm, that brings me to the following question: how does a developer make a celestial object?I'm guessing everything in centered at the center of the planet, add the ground (after this point it only applies for planets for water) with places for water, and then they set a sea level. Also they had to set how thick the atmosphere is and how hard the ship needs to be pulled towards the center for gravity. Bingo! Of course I could be completely wrong, ask Nova if you really wanna know. Edited August 6, 2012 by swiftgates24 I forgot to add, I ROCK!!!
