You guys probably know this, but a bit of googling found out this guy legally changed his name to "Brogan BamBrogan".

He's working on Hyperlook now as their CTO. And he regularly rocks awesome facial hair. LOL

Broke: having an automated docking program with no failsafe.

Drunk on vodka: omitting the automated docking system entirely for budgetary reasons.

Would Beresheet be considered SpaceX's first actual payload beyond Earth orbit? I guess it technically just put it in Earth orbit...but it's purpose is the to the Moon! Wouldn't have gotten anywhere without a rocket taking it on up.

Yeah, there was Starman, but that was a test flight.

In any case, really cool!

Another one was the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) in 2015,  and which is located at the L1 point.

There's also TESS, which is in an extremely eccentric orbit, and I think it used a flyby of the Moon initially to get there.

I assume they use inert gass / water in upper stage.
However they will be flying the blunt upper stage at max-q, this might also get damaged by the super drako engines.

And I think that would be precisely why they *wouldn't* go inert in the upper stage. You need to prove that the abort works even with tonnes of liquid kaboom in close proximity to the Dragon.

Will they intentionally detonate the upper stage too?

Expand

Very likely. Scott Manley has said that they intend to detonate the entire rocket, to see if the capsule can protect the astronauts from the worst possible situation it is designed to survive.
