DAL59
Mr Steven is 100 km south west of Avalon Island. What is the IMO of OCISLY?
sevenperforce
If they can really bring back a booster after sending a 6.2-tonne bird to GTO, my spreadsheet is wrong in all the right places.

Edit: Navtex navigational warning messages area 12, station idk ... C (San Francisco ?), subjects A, L, X, Y. You need a decoder and be in the vicinity of a transmitter. It is VHF. Or access to one of the internet sources. Be warned (A), you'll have to scroll through a long list of moved buoys, damaged lights, weather advices, etc. until you find somnething that looks like ZCZC CAxx timestamp text NNNN where text could be something like "Tug name of ship, MMSI, callsign in vicinity of position with course list of positions or direction with barge, cable length x km/NM. All vessels are requested to keep a wide berth." Another message might deal with a temporary restricted area and circle around it where the barge is waiting for the impact. It'll name a watch ship with MMSI and callsign for any contacts. With that information you can access marinetraffic or vesselfinder to get a picture, if the vessels are in reach of a receiver station. :-) Edited February 22, 2018 by Green Baron Bloody self formatting editor ! sevenperforce
One hour to launch of PAZ and Fairing 2.0! Quote from a Redditor about the new fairings: Quote I was fortunate enough to go Vandenberg for the Paz mission along with some SpaceX employees and members of Spanish government. We got some information about the new fairing and why they are using it, here are the highlights. - Slightly bigger: 4 inches taller and 4 inches wider. - Easier to build: Takes less pieces to put together. - Lighter: Strength is more optimized for the places that need it, resulting in a lighter fairing. - Easier for recovery: Has designated points for a steerable parachute/parafoil, allowing it to be caught by boat. As I understand it, the airstream disturbance from the large and fluffy fairing kept fouling the steerable chutes, so Fairing 2.0 was designed to have chute attachment points that would prevent this. Also, we have eyes on Hispasat, and we've got confirmation of titanium grid fins! So it looks like they may be pretty confident about their chances of recovery. They don't like to risk losing those bigger, more expensive fins.
GoSlash27
@DAL59, Hawk's IMO is 9103295. MMSI 366943250 I can't find a marine traffic map with an updated position, though. sevenperforce
PAZ is going to a sun-synch polar orbit. So does this mean...what exactly?
Spaceception
So I suppose they're reusing the stage, but aren't bringing it back this time? Well, still, it's another reuse

cypher_00
No reuse this time. I think the near polar orbit has something to do with that. edit: i mean no landing.. Edited February 22, 2018 by cypher_00
