The legs do feel very iffy in the current design.

The legs have never looked right on this series. They need to be able to withstand “off-nominal” and be ready to fly again.

They like to talk about booster landing like it’s a solved problem but it seems like the legs get pretty trashed on many of the barge landings.

That's because the barge bobs up and down and the height at which F9 cuts its engines differs. It's much less of a problem if the booster or Starship lands on a landing pad on land. IIRC they haven't lost a single booster landing at LZ-1 and LZ-2 (or whatever they are called) and AFAIK those boosters didn't have any leg issues.

CRS-16 failed a landing at LZ-1, though to be fair, that was a hydraulics issue with the grid fins, not the legs.

insane, the speed at wich they build them is just insane

IKR?

The idea that they could slam stuff out in a week from Elon was met with sniggers, but they're not that far off even with these effectively bespoke test articles. Fun to watch.

Forgive me my ignorance,  do they always do entry burns with 3 engines?

Yes.

Landing takes longer than usual?

It either already landed a while ago or not, probably lost it.

The first stage is definetly back to earth by now, but propably not in one piece. It seemed to make quite drastic movements with its grid fins directly before loss of uplink...

Yes.

Ok, didn't pay attention to it before.

So, what are the odds that it's just an issue with signal from drone ship? Edit: booster loss confirmed.

I'd say 0...just had confirmation that they lost the 1st stage.
