600k parking orbit, x100 time warp issue/bug.

Recommended Posts

So while waiting for my Duna transfer window I threw my craft into a 600+k orbit so I could use max time warp. (I know that's inifficient but I was impatient and had extra Dv.)

Problem is, every time I actually hit x100 warp it skews the orbit to something random like 400k/750k and so I can't actually use x100 warp unless I spend more Dv fixing it which I tried a few times but it just keeps getting mucked up when I time warp even if I got to 800 or 1000. I'm not getting grabbed by the Mun or Minus or anything like that.

Is this just a limitation of the game code at extremely high time warp? Doesn't happen everytime but enough that it's annoying lol. (On a side note it happens less if I slowly ramp up to x100 instead of just kicking it right into max)

Any thoughts, answers, or similar experiences are appreciated, thanks in advance!

I've gotten in the habit of stepping up time warp in increments if my ship will be entering a new SOI. Sometimes, if I jump straight to a high speed, the Pe will change; sometimes by a lot. Never had the problem within a single SOI, though.

As far as the actual warping, when I'm gonna transfer from Kerbin I obviously wanna do so from a low altitude. Because of the warping restriction, I've found it's best to do so from the tracking station. This eliminates your "revert flight" option, but I usually make a specific quicksave before every flight in case of (inevitable) screw-ups.
