I have found that increasing the mass of the part helps with the wiggles. Also make sure your collision is not too close the the attachment point (Clipping into another mesh). To test if it's the collision move the attach node in the config further from the tank so you have a visible gap between the two parts. If the wiggle goes away its probably a collision issue.

Also I have heard that this particular bug is partly the reason for the creation of launch clamps...

Well you solution unnecessarily increases the mass of the part. It's not necessarily a bug, but a natural consequence of supporting so much weight on such a small surface area.

I'll definitely have to tweak node points and collision - I'm getting a lot of failures on my 1st stage decoupler, where it meets the second stage engine. Always the annoying part >_<

On the plus side, I finished the 1st stage fuel tank, yay!

I don't have any perf issues whatsoever and I'm running maxed out lights/AA and all that. I suppose if you have a lot of mods installed then it could be an issues. It's always easy to downsize, though. Text might look like crap then though, hah :)

Finished up the second stage tank :D

Just have to texture the RD-120 engine now, then it's all config and collision tweaks.

Here's how the whole rocket looks in flight right now. I'm a bit OCD with some things, so I think I'm going to move the "Land Launch" text until it lines up with the corp logos on the second stage tank. ^_^

Wow. Awesome. Will you make the Zenit-2, too? It'll just take a texture edit to the first stage, an of course in this case you would launch without Block D. Oh, and are you planning different fairings? There was an inline variant (usually seen on Zenit-2), and a rounded nose on seen on Sea Launch. Maybe also the Fregat-SB: http://www.tsenki.com/en/launch_services/help_information/upper_stages/view/?SECTION_ID=148&ELEMENT_ID=86123

Hmmm...

Maybe keep them both, and if you've them still kicking around, release them as alt textures along side the initial? It'll make for more variety around the forum i.e., not everybody will have the same rocket. Plus, I rather liked the first example you gave us... I dunno, maybe I'm just completely bonkers.:P

Yeah, the more I look at it, the less I like it, haha. I'll reduce them. :)

*edit* Better?

With that much free space, you could add a flag decal on the side of the tank so the mission flag shows up, as well. Then, if someone *really* needs to advertise their mission's sponsors, they can just make a mission flag for it. :)

I could definitely release it as alternate, yeah. I was originally trying to match the density of this:

-burly pic of Intelsat upon rollout-

If that's the reference, than I'd say you're spot on.

Like I said earlier, I dig the sponsor clutter (although, I might be in the minority here). It reminds me of what you'd see on the actual launch vehicle.

Any chance this could eventually evolve into an Energia system which uses the lower stage as boosters?

Energia is on my list to do, yeah. A few other things before then. Though I'm not sure what to do if it requires new functionality as I'm not a coder/scripter.
