Favorite 1970+ Air Superiority fighter

Which do YOUR favorite? I say F-15, probably because I am American.

Or maybe because it has more air-to-air victories than any other fighter flying, it has never been defeated in air-to-air combat, and it can land after having one wing entirely sheared off?

Panavia Tornado

40 years of operation but the Eurofighter won't take its place because it's a mess(too expensive, technical failures) like everything with Euro in its name.

Talking of which, the US is going to sell its expensively developed F-35 multi fighter with stealth capabilities and the Luftwaffe wants to buy them.

This thread is neither related to spaceflight nor have i insulted anyone, so it's clearly not a violation of 2.2b?
Also no need to defend the Eurofighter, production is phasing out, it was a political program with horrible mismanagement which found no customers. And its original role of dogfighting was scrapped after the Cold War for multirole purposes.

As we have seen recently, sometimes, you gotta go WVR. Sometimes, the enemy dodges 4 Sparrows/AMRAAM. And i definitely would not want to be in a tornado when that happens. Thats how the Israeli's got ~100 air to air victories in the F-15/16. WVR, with IR missiles.

The hornet is OK, has the worst combat record though...

Yeah, Spitfire is better. I can prove this with some simple maths. The Spitfire has 6 guns. (Depending on the variant) The Hornet has 1 gun. Therefore the Spitfire is 6 times better.

Funny, that's what the USAF and USN thought going in to Vietnam with the shiny new F-4 that didn't even have a gun pod. Then the North Vietnamese started handing them their asses in dogfights-that-weren't-supposed-to-happen with 15-year-old Mig-21s. So, the Fighter Mafia was born, which gave us (directly or indirectly) many of the aircraft we're talking about above.

No, the spitfire fires less rpm, and only uses 7.7 mm vs 20mm

WWI:

the French Morane-Saulnier Type L - "Parasol"

In World War II. we have a tie:

The F4U Corsair

 The P51 Mustang

The Messerschmidt Bf 109

And post World War II - there are several that tie for me...

F-15 Eagle

MIG 31

F-16

And of course, my favorite sci-fantasy superiority fighter...

  Yup, the TIE interceptor...

Now remember, the OP didn't limit the air superiority fighter of our choice to any one era... and I also eliminated those. which although my favorite, were not designed to be air superiority fighters.

Favorite would have to be the F-16, for many reasons.

Best, the latest, or the next one up and coming... as is the way with such things.
