Congratulations! You found the Mun arch! All kinds of easter eggs on the mun. ;-)

Oh it's an actual Stargate and there are actual easter eggs? lol I was just joking and thought it was a glitch or something. What a pleasant surprise!

There are two Mun arches. There are also plenty of little easter eggs you will recognize immediately if you're a 2001: A Space Odessy fan. :D

... Because there used to be water and potentially air on the Mun, much like our own Moon may have? Who knows? Same way the monoliths got there?

Wait, what? I know the moon has water ice in it's craters, but I doubt it was ever warm enough to support liquid water.

The moon used to be part of earth, but it got knocked out by a giant asteroid. Look it up.

Yes I know. But that was BEFORE earth had water. Even if it did, it would be vaporized by the impact and none would survive to make features. Plus, in a vacuum, the water would boil off the moon anyways.

Some Nasa-scientist extracted some drips of Water from Moon-rocks. Theres even a video on Youtube.

Its nice, actually, that KSP still has a community -not- flaming everybody who just discovered the Eastereggs and tells about it on the forum.

Rock arch was probably created by an incredibly powerful magnetic field in the area back when the Mun was first created and the surface hadn't cooled to form a solid crust.

Although that's just a hypothesis!

I find it rather annoying that everyone seems to think they are the first in the world with this discovery. Instead of doing a search and some research we have to put up with these kind of threads each week.

The Solar Gamer: It was not an asteroid, more like another planet the size of mars. An asteroid could not have brought enough mass or shot up enough mass so that the moon could form.

Seriously? Jeebs finds his/her first Mun artifact (maybe their first artifact, period) and instead of a "Good work! Lots of people have found them but it takes quite a bit of work to find them if you don't know where to look!" or something along those lines, you get "annoyed". Well my friend, you have my permission to get over yourself.

@Jeebs - good work! I still haven't managed to find one yet, although with my munbase up and running it shouldn't take much longer.

Jeebs, nice work and good eye. I'm sure there will be tons of easter eggs to find when the other planets are put into the game.

As far as the origins of the arch, I think it's fairly obvious that they were put there by aliens. Maybe even a sentient space robot that talks and sounds like Leonard Nimoy.
