It is happening, and is being released on May the 25th. If we're going to talk about the upcoming movie (as people are starting to do now in this thread), why not do it in the dedicated discussion thread for it.

having finally seen it yesterday (one screen theater, one movie a week, we don't get everything and its always a month or two behind everyone else), i can say i was not impressed. the movie had some cool moments but it didn't feel like i was watching a star wars movie. it seemed to lack the epicness of the others.

later that evening i watched primer, that ultra low budget time travel movie that can really fry your brain of you can follow it at all. now that was good.

The darn Rose character seems absolutely pointless. She crashed into Finn who at that moment could have saved the Resistance, having a good ending to his character. Vice Admiral Dressing Gown? Just no. Look around her! Commanders, captains, real soldiers who look like they come up with a plan, execute it, and use the First Order's stupidity against them. Instead, she waits for hours until the Raddus runs out of gas, then sends tiny cargo vessels to an abandoned rebel base. Disney has made a movie for the mass market who don't even know what the force is. They should make a real movie for real fans, not blockbusters for the masses. The Force Awakens wasn't that bad though. How the Kraken is the resistance going to rebuild itself? At the start of the movie there were:

1 Heavy Cruiser, bigger than any of the Rebel Alliance's ships

2 tiny corvettes

11 B-17  MG 100 Starfortresses

Milenium Falcon

2 Frigates

Around 30-80 starfighters

few thousand troops

__________________________

At the end of the movie about 12 members of the Resistance are alive. They can easily fit on the Millenium falcon with plenty of room to spare.

I would like to pay my respects to Admiral Ackbar who sadly died a pointless and unearned death. To our favorite admiral, RIP. :(

of the last 3 star wars movies i think i like rougue one the most. it wasnt mired down by a lot of legacy characters and lip service to fans of the originals. i see that in a lot of reboots these days. stop that schtick, just make a good movie first and everything else is ancillary.

All I know is that about half way through the last jedi, I considered asking for my money back.   I saw all the other movies (except 3&4) in the theater and enjoyed all of them.

Same basic plot lines as before.   Demonic flying penguins.  Starships that have huge weak spots on them again.  etc etc.
