Space station ideas and ground bases

i wanna do a space station at kerbin and a ground base at minmus so what should i put on it? any ideas to how i could do and what put?

It depends entirely on what you need. A lab? Power generation? Storage? Free docking ports for expansions/potential visitors? Parking bay for a rover? Experiments? Relays? Fuel tanks for refueling? If modded, maybe food storage? Write down whatever you want, then plan it, then send it, most likely in parts.

Minmus's low gravity means an easy launch for heavily laden ships, so a good place to build a mining base to refuel your longer range ships, the idea being you launch with enough fuel to hit orbit, and then refuel before heading out in to the solar systems.  Lots of refuelling strategies but I'm a fan of using the tanker to haul the interplanetary ship to a highly eccentric orbit and making use of the Oberth effect to get the ship on it's way to wherever using as little of it's own fuel as possible.

Always make sure stations have plenty of docking ports, I end up with loads of ships parked at them.

All my space stations are also comms relays, and ideally have some accommodation on board so I can transfer crews around.  Plus they always have torque and a probe core, rotating the station can make docking a lot easier if you have a big heavy ship.

There are several mods that let you do additional science on stations and ground bases, surface Experiment Pack and Orbital Sciences are the two that spring to mind.

I've just started a new career with the USI Life Support and Kolonisation mods so my stations and bases will also need to have life support, recycling, resource gathering and processing...
