This looks familiar...

I just like that they had to clarify this in their latest tweet, lol.

In all seriousness, though, I don't really care if the design is *kind of* familiar. We definitely need more reusable rockets!

EDIT: @tater already posted this tweet in the main CNSA thread, oops.

Why do things with a simulair purpose ALWAYS have to be a 'ripoff' to some.

With that kind of mentality doesn't that mean every jet airliner is a blatant ripoff the DH106 "Comet"

Im looking forward to the project. Its nice having more competition.

Indeed, it's called "convergent evolution." As in, designs tend to be refined towards an optimum configuration, and there is usually only one optimum configuration for a given task, no matter who designs it.

Some are also just abject copies.

If SpX have stuff made in China, that's to be expected.

Though the company is very very much real, previously under a different name (many english-named stuff in China comes from near miss with their original chinese names).

This new rocket looks a bit like their CEO saw Falcon 9 and told his designers and engineers to build something similar, especially considering the timing.

However, Buran was also a 'ripoff' of the Space Shuttle, but at the same time a completely independent development.

Yeah, but since this is a private company not CNSA I figured I wouldn't pollute that thread.

About it being a rip-off: somebody on Reddit commented about steam engine. Basically, if it's good and seems to work, why change it?

Edit: "When comes the steam engine, comes steam-engine time." - Charles Fort
