will it run? I don’t need good graphics, frame rate, or anything. Also, will it run mods?

thank you!!    If not, can anyone suggest anything cheap that will run ksp?

Lol cuz I’m low on :funds:.

Edit: I’m asking cuz I’m not good with tech.

I7-8700K???? :-) YES, it will do fine. Very fine.

However, you must have 8G of main RAM at least. You can get away with less, but you will deeply regret if you try this stunt. If the budget is really low, buy a cheaper processor (as the i5 on the same link) and use the difference to buy more RAM.

About the GPU, I would suggest to get something with 2G VRAM if you can. KSP and mainly the mods use a lot of textures, that must be stored into VRAM in order to be used by the GPU. Avoid the shared memory solution unless you don't have absolutely any other choice - try hard to get a dirty&cheap 60 bucks GPU card, it worth it.

If a GPU dedicated card is absolutely unviable, I recommend 10 to 12G of RAM as minimum, as the embedded GPU will stole memory from the CPU.

By itself?  No.  It's just a processor.  I feel like I need to point out that this is not a whole computer.

What's the rest of your build look like?  If you're on a budget, I would recommend not getting one of the most expensive processors on the market.  The cost of the rest of your hardware is going to reflect that CPU's price.  You can get entire KSP capable computers for the price of that CPU, especially if you're not overly concerned with high graphics or framerate.

I'll second this.  I recently (February 2018) rebuilt my desktop computer.  I bought an AMD FX8350 (4.0 GHz, 8 cores, 8 threads), motherboard, 16 GB DDR3-3300, and reused the nVidia GTX750 I already had, along with my 256 GB SSD and two older platter drives.  I spent just over $500 for the whole rebuild, mostly because I already had case, power supply, drives, monitor, and keyboard as well as GPU and other peripheral cards.  The machine does a pretty good job running KSP, though I don't run memory-hungry mods (just never wanted to tread that endless road).

An alternative can often be to put an improved CPU in the same socket you already have; I've done this in the past (Core2Quad 2.7 GHz replaced a Core2Duo 2.1 GHz); if you have a suitable motherboard already, this can be an inexpensive upgrade path.

Don't forget to plan for cooling -- KSP isn't the worst CPU heat abuser around (because it uses a single core/thread for the bulk of its work, so at most two cores will be running all out while the others are loafing, and hardware in the CPU will switch the load around to even out the heat), but you want your CPU to be able to run at its full potential, which means not getting so hot the CPU or operating system throttle back to prevent heat damage.  A minimum would be the manufacturer recommended heat sink and fan; if you have any plans to overclock you need significantly better cooling than the minimum.
