Screen turning black, able to control rocket but not see anything

Recommended Posts

Hello, Looking for some help with my game. For some reason, every now and then when I go to the map, I go back to the main part of the game the screen turns black. It all still works, I can see the mods' overlays, but not the game. I can still hear it, I can pause and continue the game (although not showing the paused menu), and I can go back to the map. If I quit from the map menu and open the save back up, it's fixed for a few seconds, then the same thing happens. There's no timed interval or anything with this, it's just random. I usually have to leave the game then come back in to fix it, but it's a big inconvenience for me. It's getting worse now, and scene changes don't work.

Can we get an output log and mod list?

Other than that I don’t know of any reason it would do that off the top of my head.

Install anything new lately? Scatter, SVE...

I've installed EVE and Scatterer, but it's been happening before that. I installed them both once, deleted the files, the problem persisted and I reinstalled EVE & Scatterer assuming that it wasn't caused by them. GameData file screenshot and Output log included. Sorry for the late reply, was trying to re-create the problem.

(And this thread should be moved to modded installs, so if a mod would be so kind as to do that please, because I don't know how.)

This doesn't seem like a thing that would just start happening randomly, but more likely after you installed a mod (even though you posted in the unmodded forum :P).  Try to remember the last mod you installed, and remove that one, see if it fixes it.

Yeah, I accidentally put it in the unmodded forum. Is there any way to change where it’s posted?

that aside, this started happening a while back, and I’ve downloaded multiple mods since then. Here’s my GameData folder if it helps.unknown.png

Not really a big deal, just kidding around, but if a mod happens to wander by and see it, they might move it, but it's not really worth reporting.

I'd start by pulling the visual mods you have, and then adding them back individually.  When you find it, leave that one in, and pull the rest, see if it still happens.  If it doesn't, then add them back in one at at time and wait for the conflict.  Then decide which one you can do without.

I don't use any of the visual mods, but I can imagine some of them don't play nice together.   Better yet, check the various threads for those mods and see if any incompatibilities have been reported.

Like Mark Kerbin already suggested, a log file would be nice. I have the same visual mods installed (and even some more) but haven't experienced this bug (they can still be the reason), but if something goes horribly wrong, it should have a least one entry in the log file.

If you don't know where the log file is located (especially the output_log), take a look in this thread:

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
