Loading Screen Stuck With "#autoLOC_(8 numbers here)" Above Loading Bar

Recommended Posts

KSP: 1.4.5 Windows 64bit

Problem: Loading screen never progresses after getting stuck on "KAX/Parts/KAX_turboProp/KAX_turboProp/KAXturboprop" and has "#autoLOC_(8 numbers here)" above the bar.

Mods Installed:

BDArmoryContinued

Firespitter

KAX

MagicSmokeIndustries

OPT

Physics Range Extender

SM_AFVs

VesselMover

ModuleManger

Reproduction Steps: Honestly can't really tell, it just happens after every fresh install.

You can see the NullReferenceExceptions being thrown after attempting to load several of these KAX parts. Not sure what's causing this, but I would recommend asking in the KAX thread, providing this log and maybe a link to this thread. They should be able to help you with the specifics.
I would recommend loading the game again after removing these parts, to see if these are really the problem (the parts being the KAX electricprop, kueyEngine, kueyTailRotor, and turboprop). If this doesn't fix it, I'm not sure what's going on, and you should definitly ask in the KAX thread. If it does fix it, I would recommend letting the KAX person/people know, so they can get a fix out.

Hope this helps.

@KidWithTheHands Your whole localization folder of the stock game is missing. The last time I've seen this, the twitch launcher was the reason. ANy chance you use it as well?

(Probably it is not just a missing localization folder...I cannot find several others as well but maybe they aren't loaded until you game crashes)

Sure :) You bought the game on steam so the easiest solution would be to check your file integrity. Right click the game in your game library -> properties -> local files -> check for issues (I don't know the correct english name for this button, but there are just 5, you will find the correct one :) ). Steam should find the missing files and will download them again.

Uhm...in this case: can you check the folder manually? Just take a look if it is there. In your case, it should be here:
D:\Games 2018\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\GameData\Squad\Localization
In the folder must be a single file called 'dictionary.cfg'

Well, you can try to reinstall the whole game but I have the feeling that it will not help either since your check for file integrity already failed. Like I said, I've seen something like this before...

How did you install your mods? Manually on your own, CKAN, any other tools?
Any other tools which are somehow connected to KSP?

Yeah, I've tried reinstalling and had no success, the the autoLOC_09494943 problem is fixed, the loading bar just gets stuck now

You can update your mods, they are not up to date, especially ModuleManager. But BDA, PhysicsRangeExtender, VesselMover, etc... they are all a bit off in the version number.

If it doesn't help either, please upload a fresh log

Update: I deleted all mods and left the Squad folder in there. Localization issue gone it just stops loading. It shows an orange bar and it never moves, but the jokes and art cycles normally

Would be best to start with a fresh install, then add mods one at a time

Like I said before, we need a new log.

Does the game stuck when you try a fresh clean install as well? When you reinstalled your game, did you check for remaining files in your install directory? Some configs and mod files will remain if you just uninstalled it via steam and since something really borked your last install, probably something was lest to break even the reinstalled game.

my apolgies for such a late response, had a busy end of week but am now available. So, as of right now there is absolutely NOTHING KSP related on my hard drive. I'm currently reinstalling and will run it clean, absolutely stock, and if it does the loading bar stuck thing again, I will post a log for you guys to scour through.

The only issue is that it usually works fine first install, but once I close the actual game and then try launching again, it does the "Loading Bar Stuck" thing.

thanks for all your help so far!

So the game runs when you start it the first time but after closing, at the next start it will stuck in the loading screen?

Ok, let me show you something strange. I've setup a fresh install of 1.4.5 without DLC and compared my log with yours. On the left side is your log, on the right side is mine:

Spoiler

FkHQmyB.png

4IbtYab.png

qGHCv6T.png

The big grey parts in your log are missing entries and my log already got 4k lines more than yours when my game finished loading all the configs.  To be more precise: except for the localization.cfg, your whole install misses all the stock configs for agencies, contracts, resources, parts and so on. As soon as KSP tries to load the part database, your game is stuck since the game cannot find any parts (because their configs are missing).

Please check your KSP install folder, if these config files are indeed missing, for example:
D:\Games 2018\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\GameData\Squad\Parts\Aero\airbreak\Airbreak.cfg

If the config file isn't there, there must be a program in the background messing up your install. You already said that you don't use the twitch/curse launcher so the best guess I have, is a anti virus program going riot on KSP.

But if the config file does exist and KSP just don't load it, I have aboslute no clue what's the reason for the issue.

(On a sidenote: You run the 32bit version again but that's not the problem here)

Backing up what cheese has said, in the past this issue has been caused by a messed up stock install.   Which was caused by some third party software mucking around where it shouldn't.

Clean out everything KSP related.   Everything.   Even other software that might affect it.

Download a new clean install of KSP, don't use a cached or previously downloaded version.

Install it.

Airgap your machine.  As in, disconnect it from the internet.  Turning off the wifi or unplugging the cable would suffice.   This is just a safety measure as I'm going to ask you to turn off your anti-virus apps.

Run KSP.   Run it a few times.

If it works a few times, turn your AV back on.   See if it still works a few times.

Now reconnect to the internet as desired.

Test again.

If it crashes, just remember what you turned on right before it crashed, and then we can look into that.

Ive uninstalled, cleaned out the commonapps folder, permanently deleted everything via recycling bin. Before I reinstall, what else can i do?

well, i deleted everything and even reinstalled to a different hard drive and "airgapped" my PC. Still does it, I sent a bug report to Squad...

Did you turn off your AV?

Did you download a completely fresh install?

I don't think that will do any good, as the issue is most likely specifically with your machine.  And if it's not, it could be months before SQUAD even attempts to fix such a rare bug.

Yes, fresh install. I don't know why it would be a machine issue, it has worked perfectly fine before recently
