variants?

How do I apply variants to my vessels? Only a couple of fuel tanks and the shrouds accept varriants. And its only the white or orange one, except the shrounds can use  black and white. What about all the other ones that I can't use? Why where they even added to the game?

What other variants are you talking about that you can see but not use?

The only ones you may not have are the ones from the expansion?

Other than that what you see is what you get.

So that mod creators could add them to mods.

It's a relatively new feature which has only been added to some of the parts. It may be added to others later.

@Rocket In My Pocket When you click the arrow in the top left, you can look at all variants.

Yeah, those are the variants for the different parts, the number next to each tells you how many parts use that color variant.

You can also right click each part to see a list of variant colors it has access to.

Still not sure what you are missing here? Most likely you are seeing variants from the DLC (which I'm assuming you don't have?) in the global list?

that may be it. what variants are only in dlc?

The DLC gives you many new parts. They are not very powerful, but most of them have variants to play with.

For some built-in variants (eg. in 2021 version of the game), you first

1) Place the part on the build screen, then

2) right-click the part to show it's options, then

3) hit the arrow on the bottom-right to change the variant.

Sorry I can;'t post an image to highlight the specific arrow - it's the bottom section of the popup window.

For example, the "poodle" engine can be switched between double-bell and single-bell variant.

im using ksp 1.11.1 v.

for me in varant switcher only limited switch is showing. not like which i see in youtube videos.

how i can enable or get that facility.
