Problem with part editing: Parts turn at weird angles!

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

first of all, I'm new to the forums. So sorry if I forget to post any other necessary information. Just ask me for it! :)

I have the issue that on my modded KSP 1.4.5 install, I have a very weird issue where when I try to turn a part in *any* direction with WASD, it doesn't turn/rotate by just 90°, it rotates so that it is in between 0° and 90°. I can turn it back to its "original" position, where it is straight again, but in any other orientation, I seem to get this very annoying problem.

I have the editor extensions mod installed. I suppose it has something to do with it...but I'm not quite sure. I searched for similar things but could'nt find such an issue, so I decided to post my issue here.

In the screenshot you can see how it looks when I press the 'A' key once on the thermometre...it's really annoying me :(XoMntt4.png

Best regards, Rankhole.

*UPDATE*

I have uninstalled Editor Extensions Redux, and it STILL does the same thing.... :(

Okay, I have found the mod(s) that caused the issue:

I had to uninstall all three of the following mods:

Part Angle Display Continued

Part Commander Continued

Part Wizard Continued

all by linuxgurugamer

So....if you run into this issue, check these mods :D

Can be closed now

EEX gives you the ability to change the angle of the rotation.

Part Angle Display gives you the ability to precisely rotate parts

Rather than simply saying they don't work (they do ), why not ask for some help?  By removing those mods, you remove any possibility of either learning how to use them properly , or getting help figuring out what is going on.

If you want help, ask for it, but that last bit you wrote was rather insulting.

Hi, first of all, thanks for the reply.

I wasn't intending to result anyone. I'm sorry if you felt insulted. I was merely pointing out I had an issue which I was trying to get fixed, since it hindered my ability to build things properly.

Anyways, do you have an idea why removing those mods fixed the issue? The thing is, at no point in the game I could find any mod toolbar that had any option for rotation angles.

Best regards, Rankhole.

Glad to see things are working out!  :)

Just a gentle reminder to the community at large that we're all friends here, and that most folks mean well.

  • I'm sure that mod users appreciate the hard work that modders do in order to give us all shiny toys for free.
  • I'm also sure that mod authors appreciate helpful users who do the spadework to narrow down problems to specific mods, and are thoughtful enough to post bug reports as well as they know how.

So, since we're all friends here, doing our best to help each other out, let's keep things friendly, shall we?  Thanks.

You should read the docs of the mods you are using.

Editor Extensions:

  • Adds radial/angle snapping at 1,5,15,22.5,30,45,60, and 90 degrees. Angles are customizable.

Part Angle Display:

  • The plugin allows you to display a small window in the VAB/SPH that displays the orientation of the currently selected part as pitch, roll and yaw angles and it also allows you to enter increment values for the pitch, roll and yaw and to apply these to the selected part.

I'm not positive, but I think you some odd values in the Part Angle Display mod.

I would suggest that you first reset the PAD values to the following:

  • Pitch: 0.0
  • Roll: 0.0
  • Yaw: 0.0
  • Rotation: 90.0
  • Fine: 5.0
  • and deselect the Part-relative button

That will set it back to stock, then try it again.  Once you have it working as normal, then start playing with the values.  Only change one at a time, and then see what it does and how things react
