Why, just why

The game by itself is unplayable, the mods can't be downloaded at all from apparently the only site that has them. You got my 10$ extra for the DLC, but it's not useful. enjoy that money, you'll not be seeing anymore soon.

Hey mod, since nobody else will ever see this, just tell the marketing dufaces.

First off - Hello there.

Second of all - Would you mind explaining yourself a bit further what you mean by "unplayable"? And also what you mean by "mods can't be downloaded"? You took the time to post this here, and I'm sure the community is more than willing to help.

Umm, ok.....

It's certainly not the game which is unplayable....

If you need help with anything a civil question rather than a quick,  unhelpful rant would get you up on your feet, just saying....

Do you mean its buggy, or its missing features that you deem to be required (delta-V readouts? graphics overhauls? Mech Jeb?)

There is more than 1 site hosting mods. Mods are incredibly easy to make and use. There is 1 official site, another that is used by a lot of the community, and many more that are just shared via github, dropbox, etc. The idea that there's only 1 place to get mods, and they can't actually be obtained from there is incredibly wrong

It has some uses. There's extra parts. The most useful feature I found was the mission editor that allows me to place launchpads anywhere on any celestial body (well maybe not the sun, haven't checked that).

It really makes testing craft (such as an Eve ascent vehicle) much easier.

Marketing? if the game is "unplayable" that's a QA/development/technical support issue, not marketing (although one shouldn't market an unplayable game, not that it hasn't been done before: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Rigs:_Over_the_Road_Racing).

@rynther, if you are having trouble with the game, you can go to the Gameplay and Technical Support forums, and describe your issue there. If it's a problem with the Making History expansion, then you can go to the Making History support forum. If you describe what problems you are having with the game, then we will do our best to attempt to find solutions to the issues you are having

Welcome to the forums! Assuming you come back, I think you'll find we value civility and politeness around here more so than most places on the internet.

The stock game is enjoyed by many, for thousands of hours, not sure what you mean by unplayable? Are you having technical issues?; and mods can be downloaded from multiple sources, including: Curseforge, Github, Spacedock, and CKAN.

If you need help with any of these problems, myself or someone else would surely be happy to oblige you.

I played stock for a long time before learning out how to use mods (the process was different back then). The stock game is more playable and more fully-featured than ever and, indeed, it's easier to play than with many mods.

Take, for example, FAR, which makes aircraft design a much less simple process, increases the speed required for takeoff, increases the difficulty of designing supersonic planes, and makes planes more fragile as well.

Or Real Solar System, which makes the delta-V requirements for every mission about three times what they are in stock KSP, and reduces the payload a rocket can get to low orbit from about 25% to about 4%.

Or the various mods of realism overhaul, which require you to think about things like lower throttle limits on rockets, limited restarts, boil off of cryogenic fuels, fuel pressure required to start some rocket engines, how much restarting fluid you have in the engine, jet engine overheating and TPR, the list goes on.

The one thing I would say is that the stock game is neither very realistic nor very good at giving you the info on your craft's capabilities. Delta-V, launch windows, and Thrust/weight ratio are particularly egregious examples of things the stock game seems to fail at providing you, although you can calculate all of those, guess them, or make google calculate them for you.
