What is #autoLoc in graphics settings?

Recommended Posts

a bug. any mods installed?

#autoloc is the reference marker, variable name, within the information file that indicates what the localization text for that button, part, or information is. For example, #autoLOC_501637 is defined as Rockomax Conglomerate. My relfex is that if you are seeing the #autoloc the actual text for it has not been specified somewhere.

I just reinstalled KSP and was redoing my settings. What is this?

autoLOCs are for supporting multiple languages. You are never supposed to see them in the game. (They are always supposed to be replaced with text translated into your language.)

It's not happening on my install. Which means that one of your localization files got corrupted when you reinstalled. So, if you got your game from steam, you need to do a Steam file verification.

A file verification does something called a checksum on all your files. If any file is corrupted, then steam automatically redownloads that file.

If you log into your steam client, you should have a "library". Click on KSP. Then right click, choose "properties", then the "Files" tab, and there should be a button at the bottom that says something like "perform file validation".

@nicopad22, you might also have the same solution, or similar.

There should be a file in .../GameData/Squad/Localization/dictionary.cfg about 660kB in size that tells KSP how to  translate those autoLOCs into whatever language you use for the game.   Some people have had this file missing after a bad download and if that happened to you re-installing should solve the problem.

Your saved games are in the directory called .../saves/ so you can reinstall KSP in a new directory and then move your saved games over. The "..." is wherever you installed KSP.

Or, possibly, you selected "show localization keys instead of text" in the alt-F12 debug menu
