What I found I dislike about a lot of other star system planet packs is that in order to get there you need a warp drive mod. Great Eye Candy, but you can't really do meaningful things there, at least in my opinion. So JSN plans to create systems that are relatively nearby and force you to go there in order to complete the tech tree, as well as mixing up the main Kerbol System. I also plan on having a wormhole network to take you to some of the farther systems away. The planned system: Spoiler The Japris System JAPRIS 1. The Central Black hole, all other systems orbit around it. ERIGA 1. A water world, near the focal point of the wormhole network. 2. A thick atmosphere, but is poisonous to kerbals. 3. It has one moon, Bop. BOP 1. Not much terrain change. 2. The focal point of the wormhole network, for unknown reasons. The Kerbol System KERBOL 1. It's in a trinary with two other stars, Arayya and Creeon, and the Zoildore system is close by. FUSCHIA 1. A Small Gas Giant 2. As it's namesake, it's, well pink. 3. Has faint pinkish rings. 4. Has three moons, Desper, Dinin, and Arcas. It also has one quasi-satelite, Echion. DIDIN 1. A large rocky moon the size of Tylo. 2. Sparsely Cratered. 5. Orbits where Eve used to be. DESPER 1. A desert moon with a large canyon in it's southern areas. 2. A Thick Oxygenated Atmosphere 3. Instead of ice at it's poles, it's bare rock. ARCAS 1. Orbits in a highly inclined, retrograde orbit that dives through a gap in Fuischa's rings. 2. High gravity for it's size. ECHION 1. A quasi-satellite of Fuischa 2. At about 3/4 of the size of Kerbin, it clearly shows size of once holding an atmosphere that protected it from asteroid impacts. The fact that there are no craters on it's surface mean that it must have happened very recently in some sudden event. 3. Has large craggy mountain ranges to explore. KERBIN 1. No change in terrain or other values. 2. Mun and Minmus have been moved away, Gilly and Resola are now it's only moons. GILLY 1. Orbits in a near geostationary orbit. 2. Craters added. 3. Is ocasionally visible from the surface of Kerbin. RESOLA 1. Orbits a little closer to where the Mun used to be. 2. Has several salt flats on it's surface like Minmus does. ROMILY 1. Orbits nearest to Kerbin. 2. Has enormous glaciers that almost cover the whole planet. 3. The equatorial region is the only place that is unfrozen, but the equatorial region is currently in a tundra like state, with only moss covering the ground. 4. Has two moons, Doosem and Pol. DOOSEM 1. A large moon larger than the Mun, and orbits extremely close to Romily, but not too close. 2. Has 4 large extinct volcanoes rising out of the lowlands. POL 1. Now orbits Romily in a distant and inclined orbit. MUN 1. Terrain changed, large canyons and mountains added. 2. Is locked in a double planet system with Ike. 3. Very thin atmosphere added. 4. Rotates extremely Quickly. IKE 1. Tidally locked to the Mun. 2. Terrain not changed much, other than craters, faint rings added. RETUO 1. A large superkerbin 4 times larger than kerbin, and completely vacuum less. 2. Good luck getting off it. 3. It has 3 moons and one submoon. BOLD 1. A mid sized moon orbiting very close to Retuo. 2. Makes a convenient fuel stop on the way to Retuo's suface. 3. It's proximity to Retuo makes it deceptively easy to get there, it's actually the hardest place to reach in the Retuo system. EVAP 1. A small moon with a thick atmosphere. How did this happen you ask? A recent event mysteriously caused a once mighty moon to evaporate, leaving a small rocky core with a thick atmosphere of various gasses, all un-breathable. ZEP 1. A relatively large moon the size of Romily. 2. Mostly airless except a thin atmosphere, it has one submoon. ZIP. 1. Zep's submoon. JOOL 1. Appearance Changed. 2. Has only 3 moons, Laythe, Vall, and Tylo. LAYTHE 1. No change in appearance other than the fact that the ocean and atmosphere removed. VALL 1. Changed to be more Europa-Like, enormous canyons now line the surface. TYLO 1. No change in appearance or orbit. The Creeon System CREEON 1. A small white neutron Star. 2. It has 1 planet. ARALIS 1. The same size as kerbin. 2. An relatively thin atmosphere close to Duna's thickness. 3. Covered with solid lava and basalt flows. Volcanos and craters dot the surface. ZIN 1. Aralis' moon. 2. Heavily cratered and rotates extremely quickly. ROA 1. It spins once every two hours 2. As a result, the entire planet is a rather extreme form of an prolate spheriod. 3. It has two moons, Fia and Yilara FIA 1. Roa's closest and smallest moon. 2. Has a rich mahogany color. YILARA 1. Roa's farthest and largest moon. 2. Is a kind of greyish color. The Arayya System ARAYYA 1. A red dwarf that orbits farther away from Kerbol than Creeon. 2. It has 4 Planets. CRUCIBLE 1. A super large gas giant. 2. Has an enormous storm on it's northern latitudes. 3. Has 3 moons, Magmina, Sut, and Hote. MAGMINA 1. The closest moon to Crucible. 2. Has interesting lava terrain. 3. Has a thick poisonous atmosphere. SUT 1. Looks like a piece of coal. 2. Mostly black and brown. 3. Close to the size of Mun, but a little bigger. HOTE 1. A small gilly sized moon. OPPO 1. A Superkerbin 1.25 times larger than Kerbin 2. Has an oxygenated atmosphere slightly thicker than Kerbin. 3. Has watery oceans. 4. Normally it would be tidally locked, but it's large moon allows it to spin at a normal speed. TOXO 1. It has a relatively thin atmosphere, 0.5 atmospheres. Toxic. 2. It's surface is laced with toxic chemicals. 3. It has several lakes of sludge on its surface. 4. It is half the size of Kerbin. EVE 1. Now moved into orbit around Arayya. 2. Duna is now it's moon. 3. No change in terrain or atmosphere. DUNA 1. Now in orbit around Eve. 2. Surface changed to have an egg like appearance due to the tidal stresses with Eve. 3. Canyon like stress marks added close to the bulge. 4. Small lakes and savannahs dot it's surface. 5. Atmosphere made thicker to allow it to be able to suppport some form of life. MINMUS 1. Surface changed to make it look like it's melting. 2. No change in size. 3. Faint atmsophere added. The Zoildore System. [Basic layout] THERIX 1. A rocky planet with a moon. 2. Has an oxygenated atmosphere and liquid water but no life 3. Surface is covered with crater. SYTHA 1. A once volcanic moon. Dozens of volcanos cover it's surface. A large rocky planet. A large gas giant with 3 moons. A large gas giant with 2 moons. A dwarf planet. Completed Planets and Stars. Some say from the amount of times kerbals have attempted to land on it... I plan to put it in a nice orbit just outside Fuischa's rings, where it will have a nice contrast against pink Fuischa versus green Dindin. Honestly, I'm EXTREMELY happy with Dindin, it's probably one of the best planets I have ever made, Fuisha's rings are beautiful and it creates a beautiful balance between the pink and green of Fuischa and Dindin, sorry if I'm bragging a little bit but I think it's great! DunaManiac Posted August 13, 2020 Author Share Posted August 13, 2020 Alright, don't have any screenshots but I'm tryingto fix the longstanding issues with the Romily system, I added atmospheric effects to Romily, but one problem I can't seem to solve is the problem of scaled space. Basically, ScaledSpace thinks that the glaciers of Romily are more flat than the PQS, so it tries to create a nice transition, but it gets stuck in this awful limbo when they're fighting for control, it looks like they're on top of each other. It's not exactly gamebreaking but it just looks weird asthetically. Spoiler The apple dosen't fall far from the tree... I'm looking at YOU Doosem! You and your weird scaledspace spiky hills... DunaManiac Posted August 13, 2020 Author Share Posted August 13, 2020 Alright, I've cleaned up Crucible and now I'm ready to tackle Desper! Anyway, I've worked out a pretty good way to make a decent looking textures for custom planets, in 5 steps. Step 1. Get a blank page, fill it with a base color, such as orange. Step 2. Create various patches of variations of the theme color, lighter tones, darker tones, but related to the base color. Step 3. Now, using the smudge tool on GIMP, blend them together. Don't worry if the patches don't stay where they are, unless that's what you want. Step 4. Here comes the hard part, you have to make sure the texture is seamless. What I've found is a great tool on GIMP is that in the filters tab, there is an option called Map Object. Remove the grid and set the settings to sphere, and update live. Now, change the Y-axis in the orientation tab and set it to 180. This is essentially what the planet will look like in-game, and don't be worried if there isn't a seamless texture. Don't worry, it might take a while, but eventually it can become seamless. Step 5: PROFIT! Step 6: (Optional) Add surface features such as canyons, craters, mountains, and other things. The texture took me at least 6 hours to finish, but It looks awesome IMO. It's going to need a lot of finagling with the settings with KittopiaTech, and a biome map, bit it's surface is finished. I have to say, I'm reasonably happy with the results, but it's much easier to add surface features on my own terms on a blank texture, but not adding it to an existing texture. Since the atmospheric pressure at sea level is only 3 kilopascals, or half of Duna's atmospheric pressure, I'm not sure planes would be possible, but prove me wrong! This is what it will add: Fuischa, Dindin, Desper, Romily, Doosem, Arayya, Crucible, Creeon These are the stock planets who's appearence and/or orbit is changed: Mun, Ike, Gilly, These are the stock planet's who's only orbits changed. Pol, Jool, Eve, Duna, Minmus These are the stock planets deleted. Moho, Dres, Eeloo, Currently, I am finishing things up for release, so at least some parts of it are in some shape for release.
