ssd21345
Hello, can you check whether zer0kerbal maintained mods are up to date in ckan? He seems inclined to upload mods on curseforge, so his mods on Spacedock are not necessary up-to-date. Thanks! e.g spacey expanded in ckan still has the old version, while both Spacey base has a missing dependency: SpaceY Corp which cause missing texture. Noah Foloni
Opening CKAN on windows 11 opens the command prompt in the background. Usually it closes, but not anymore. I wonder if this is a bug or something that cant be overcome? https://imgur.com/a/PGZ69jr
BlackHat
A few months ago I fired up KSP 1 after not playing for awhile. Did the CKAN update and got all my mods up to date. But the last few times I tried doing updates there were never any newly compatible mods or updated mods. But did not think much about it. (I am sure a lot of focus is on KSP2) But today when I ran CKAN again and there were still no newly compatible mods or updated mods. So I took a look, According to my CKAN the last date that a mod was added or updated was May 15. https://ibb.co/2WWbjn0 Does that sound right? I do think its connecting somewhere, as it has sometimes given me a pop up that says "xxxx mod has had a metadata update you should reinstall it. Would you like to reinstall it now?" EDIT: I thought maybe its not downloading the latest "CKAN-meta-master.tar.gz" but cant find where the latest version is on my computer. softweir
This says a lot about the current state of KSP1 modding; I have been using CKAN and not noticed any faults, but I have noticed a major downturn in new mods arriving. A lot of modders have stopped working on KSP1 in anticipation of producing mods for KSP2. Not that KSP1 modding is dead and a lot of existing mods are still being updated, but new mods are sparse. Poppa Wheelie
I love CKAN! But it's not working right now. I updated to the new version. Now I can't start a KSP1 game. Here's what happens: CKAN v1.33.0 opens to the "Loading registry..." spinning green progress bar screen, with the "Manage Game Instances" window on top of that When I select an existing instance, I'm get the "Check for updates" on start-up window. I answer, "Yes, check for updates". "Loading registry" window is still spinning The main CKAN window now shows what looks like my instance main screen (I see the selected instance listed at the very top of the window). "Add available updates" is not greyed out, as if I have updates. Nothing is listed in the mod list, although this instance does have mods. And, at this point, the following error window pops up: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. Empty path name is not legal. If I select "Continue", the error window disappears, and I'm left with the main CKAN window for the selected instance, with no mods listed If I select "Add available updates", I get this error: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. Object reference not set to an instance of an object I didn't attempt to select "Launch Game" Please let me know if there are logs somewhere, or any other details, that I need to provide for you. Usually there's a "Details" button. EDIT: Nevermind, I reproduced this by un-setting my default instance. For now checking the default checkbox would presumably be a workaround for this problem. Looks like we'll be doing a hotfix... Edited July 21, 2023 by HebaruSan

So if you close after those errors and re-open, they shouldn't happen again (unless something also stops it from saving the default). Thanks for the report! We had one come in on Discord very early but it wasn't enough to guess what was going on. Edited July 21, 2023 by HebaruSan

Maybe a permissions problem? You could try deleting that file and trying again, to see if it's able to re-create it.

See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.InvalidProgramException: Common Language Runtime detected an invalid program. at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlReflectionImporter..ctor(XmlAttributeOverrides attributeOverrides, String defaultNamespace) at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer..ctor(Type type, String defaultNamespace) at CKAN.GUI.GUIConfiguration.SaveConfiguration(GUIConfiguration configuration) at CKAN.GUI.GUIConfiguration.LoadOrCreateConfiguration(String path, IGame game) at CKAN.GUI.Main.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnCreateControl() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl(Boolean fIgnoreVisible) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmShowWindow(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.WmShowWindow(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) Deleting the CKAN folder or any of the files does not correct the issue. Checking security settings, all users should have rights to the CKAN folder and contents. Using ckan via CMD Terminal (command line version), I can list instances and clear them all. Then add in my current game instance and set it as default. But, the GUI or consoleui present the same issues afterwards. (Not an issue of not having a default game instance set.) Renaming the CKAN folder and starting CKAN results in the same results. Looking at the CKAN folder there is a registry.lock file when CKAN is running. Using consoleui, I can get an error that a registry lock file already exists when trying to selet the instance of the game I am playing and to check for other running versions of CKAN. However, this is the only running version. Seems to be an issue with CKAN checking for the registry lock file and finding it but not knowing it is its own lock file or not releasing (deleting) the lock when it should. Cruesoe
I released a new mod over the weekend. Please let me know what I need to do to add it to ckan. Thanks
Space_Coyote
I'm just curious as to why when I fired up my CKAN and my KSP I got a message saying that the Current Edition is now obsolete or is no longer being used.. and that everything after this is like "Good luck getting a CKAN for KSP 1. I mean what is going on here, if someone could explain it to me , please? Space_Coyote

Jaxx
Unsure if there's a more appropriate place to notify this, but the Kerbal Krash System mod is listed as "N/A" for game version it works with, but it hasn't worked with any version in almost....2 years? So adding it to a new clean install has it just doing nothing, despite it being listed as compatible. Not sure if there can be just a manual game version for compatibility added (I think KSP version 1.10.0 based on the forum post?) but it would be nice so people don't get confused why it doesn't work. Or, if I'm somehow just an idiot who's making it not work, that would be good to know too.

What's interesting is that the version file says 1.10 or greater, which means the clearest expression we have of the author's intent says that it is still expected to work on 1.12: "KSP_VERSION_MIN": { "MAJOR": 1, "MINOR": 10, "PATCH": 0 } However, that version file wasn't actually included in the last two release ZIPs, so it got indexed without any compatibility info at all. @EnzoMeertens, are you still here? If so, can you clarify whether this mod should be listed as compatible with KSP 1.12? @linuxgurugamer, did you end up adopting this mod as per the last page of its forum thread?
