Rover not moving

Recommended Posts

While I agree with @James Kerman, on a perfunctory level I would check 3 things:

  1. Is there electrical energy available, either with batteries or solar panels?
  2. Do you have control of the vehicle?
  3. Are the brakes on? Tap the 'B' key a time or two, also check that the 'Parking Brake' is not on by turning it on & off using the icon near the altimeter that looks like a circle with an exclamation point inside of it...

Another thing that can cause rovers not to move is if the probe core is in the wrong orientation. Please look at your navball when you put the rover on the runway. Is the heading 90 degrees, with the blue part of the navball up?

Hello there,

I have a question regarding rovers. I tried to build one but when I put it on the ground on Kerbin the rover just doesn't move. The wheels won' t work and the rover stays still. Could someone help me please?

Show us a screenshot of the rover, maybe we can see if something is missing

Check these:

  • Probe core alignment- is your nap all pointing at the horizon or into the sky? If it’s aimed at the sky, right click your probe core and change the command point until it says ‘forward’ and it should then be aiming at the horizon.
  • No power- check batteries are charged.
  • Brakes on- turn them off.
  • Wheels switched off- ensure the motors are turned on.
  • No control of the craft- if CommNet is on and you don’t have a signal then you won’t be able to drive it.

I even tried the button on top of the screen in the middle brakes, I can't even pick it or when I hover over it, it doesn't show anything.

It appears that you have a lot of experiments on board - each one of those consume a certain amount of electricity - did you perform some experiments and/or drain the battery to the point of depletion? Are they consuming more power than the solar panels can compensate for?

You can also check the PAW menu and make sure the wheels are powered, and so on...

Thank you. After much fiddling around I saw this, and there's no signal. On the far side of the Mun. I guess I'll have to relay a signal or something? Lots of learning always to be done in KSP.
