liquid fuel rocket fuselages

Recommended Posts

I am mightily annoyed that all the liquid fuel fuselages are Mk 2 and 3, with shapes meant for airplanes. The nuclear engine is real. I want to make a large rocket with nuclear propulsion, i must use a plane fuselage. The only rocket-friendly piece of liquid fuel tank is the 1.25 m part, which is mostly pointless because nuclear engines only make sense on large rockets

I'm posting this because i'm making a 2.5 m rocket, but i have to slip in a mk 3 fuselage, with one adapter in front and another behind. horrible. I'll try to put a structural tube and some mk 1 fuselage clipped inside. i'm sure someone fixed it with a mod, but that would be just one more reason to make it official

@king of nowhere I feel like a bunch of new LF-only fuel tanks would only contribute to cluttering the part selection window. What is really needed is a fuel-switching function, so that you can make any tank hold only LF if you want. If you're ok with using mods, Simple Fuel Switch adds this quite nicely:

Yeah IMO they need to have (some) tanks have a reconfigurable LF/O ratio. Like a slider that's oxidizer percent and goes from 0 to 100.

In fact, maybe a more controversial opinion here but rockets having different LFO consumption ratios, or different unlockable engine configs within each engine, often with different LF/O ratios, would probably make sense.

I really do wish they had multiple fuel types simulated though. Like, ok, don't make them have real names. Just do something nice and generic, right? "Cryo Fuel" and "storable fuel" and "pressurized fuel" and the such like.
