Building a Rover on the Mun

Recommended Posts

So I am trying to pack all my parts to build a rover on the Mun.  The problem is, what can I put the rover base on to hold it up while I put the wheels on?  Before with KIS/KAS you could use a pylon, put that down, put the rover base on top, attach the 4 wheels and then pick up the pylon.  That does not see to be an option in stock construction.

Ideas?  Thanks.

I assume you are trying to use the rectangular probe core as the base and I had two ideas:

- you could place it in a thin structural part such as a girder which would support the probe core while still giving you space to place the wheels

- you could place the probe core vertically and place the wheels on its side and then “shove” it over onto its wheels by bumping into it with a jet packing kerbal.

note: I have never built a rover in situ so these ideas may be faulty, but since no one has responded I thought these might be worth a try

I didn't try the stock EVA construction (or 1.11 for that matter) but this is what I'd be inclined to try .  If there is difficult to keep the rover in the vertical position I'd use a stack decoupler as pedestal.
