What joystick do you use for KSP?

Hey there. I never really have had a flight stick for pc. Only consoles, go figure. But with ksp, I decided I had to get a flight stick for IVA, and well worth it for flying space planes. I got myself the Attack 3 cause of it's low cost. Too bad it lacks a z-axis rotation. Enough buttons for doing commands such as brakes, your yaw and ASAS commands. Setting new efficiency records on my flights too. What joystick do you use and how is yours configured? On mine, the buttons beside the joystick I use for gears, braking and rcs toggle. On the joystick buttons, I use a left and right button for my yaw, and the ASAS toggle and trigger in the middle. Having a trigger for stage separation just makes launches more fun as well.

Edit: swapped my rcs toggle and stage separator buttons after accidental stage triggerings. Is too sensitive :D

I also got a Logitech Attack 3. Got it a few years ago (I wanted to revisit Freespace 2...yeah, I totally still play that game). It's a good balance between capabilities and price (and Logitech makes devices that last...my wireless mouse is still going now, after...uh...I forget how many years). That said...I don't actually use it. I'm so busy doing the more meta stuff like planning the mission, where and how to burn, that I just don't bother with much manual piloting, and when I do, I hit caps-lock and RCS serves me well.

I use a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, which I bought specifically to play KSP, and I've got to say that its awesome. It wasn't particularly expensive, but the build quality (to me) seems really good.

The stick itself has 3-axes, which I use for pitch, yaw and roll. I use the trigger for stage seperation/ignition. I use the thumb button for MECO. The hat switch is awesome for RCS translation up, down, left and right, and I use the buttons next to the hat switch for RCS forwards and back, as well as SAS and RCS toggle. The throttle is pretty self explanatory, and the rest of the buttons are used for an assortment of things like opening the map view, deploying landing gear, and time accelleration.

I tried playing KSP without the joystick the other day, and found it really really difficult!

I have a Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X. It's a pretty nifty stick for only $50. Has a pretty big dead zone but I got used to it and I love it.

I could never get used to using a stick with the throttle control in front of it. Just doesn't make sense to me.

I use a Speedlink Black Widow, which is good value and the stick feels good, but the base is a bit bulky. Rudder control is via a rocker on the back of the throttle (I don't like twist sticks). Cheap joysticks tend to be a false economy but this one has actually lasted ok, however it has to be used in conjunction with PPJoy and GlovePie software to work with Kerbal.

CH Products here was the best joystick money could buy, in the days when I played IL2 (a tad overkill for Kerbal!).
