Jack Mcslay
Something I thought of that should be neat: What if the game starts out with only a limited amount of planets at the tracking station, and then you need to progress in the game in order to be able to track more, such as launching telescope satellites? It could be that the game starts out only with KSP 1 planets and other planets must be discovered in-game, or even that you only have an even more limited amount of planets at the start of the game such that only Eve and Duna are initially tracked. This could also add an interesting challenge, I have no doubts there would be players attempting to rendezvous with untracked planets by attempting to calculate the precise location of a given planet and maneuvers to reach it. shdwlrd
This was a topic of much speculation awhile ago. It has been said that the new solar systems will have to be discovered. Outside of that, no real information was said on how to discover the new stars and planets. The popular opinion was space based telescopes, but nothing was confirmed by the devs.

How cool would it be if new planets started out as wobbly smudges of light or even just "we know this star gets dim in association with a 2:3:5 orbital resonance." instead of being able to see the most minute details already in the map screen. You wouldn't know what you're getting into until you're already 90 percent of the way there. It certainly would add to the feeling of discovery. Imagine going to a star that was assumed to only have two planets and it turned out there were twelve smaller ones?

PlutoISaPlanet
I was very big on telescopes being the function for finding planets, but honestly I will be happy no matter how you find planets.
