Designing Alien Earths Based On Distance To The Sun

Designing alien life does not have to be complex as changing a bunch of chemicals. Changing orbits and designing life to survive the extremes is all it takes.

Example? Take Earth and put it farther from the sun. Oceans freeze over and less carbon dioxide is released.

Making life survive it? I dunno, higher body temperatures and metabolism could work, but they would be seeing white vapor every time they talk.... they would get used to that though.

The side effect is that they may overheat in hotter climates without wearing a suit or clothing with active cooling.


Closer orbit to sun? Think subterranean life to avoid getting toasted, or brief periods on the surface only to retreat to the subterranean caves. And you can forget birds unless their wings reflect more heat than they absorb.

If you have an denser atmosphere you will do decent out to mars. Mars problem is that its too small.
Now then the sun was younger it shined less brightly so it get even colder, pre plant life earth had lots of co2 and methane in the atmosphere who helped, but once plants converted the co2 into oxygen if froze over, this is something you can recover from however.

Nah - just douse them in water and watch them coagulate as every polymer in their bodies tries to turn itself inside out.
