Help with connecting parts in the editor.

Recommended Posts

Hi. First post. Woot.

Can someone please explain to me how I can get an object (a wing section, say) to join a craft at both ends.

EG: In this picture of a P38 lightning, the horizontal stabiliser is mounted between, and connected to, both tail booms. How would I get the Kerbal equivalent wing section to join both tail booms?

If that is possible, can the technique be extended to fit other parts at both ends?

You can't :(

It comes down to how KSP handles all the parts, it's a tree, so two 'branches' can't reconnect.

There are tricks to make it look, and sometime work, as it defies this, but just look at the structure in the save file.

Edit:

Just realized, if you're building something like the P-38 you'll just have to make the central wing root.
And then build symmetrically from that.

Hmm. I suspected as much, but I have seen various examples on youtube that seemed to work.  I guess they were just using rigid connections and/or concealed struts, maybe?

Thank you.

You need to use an central stabilizer on one of the tails and then an strut to keep it in place on the other. You can use auto struts but think an real strut will work better here as it links it to the second tail.
All is no problems except the central stabilizer.
