I have a few stations in orbit: 1077882_321133874689283_2062982844_o.jpg Ragnar fuel station MKI, blew up as I was parking spaceplanes (see next image) but since the only Kerbals were actually in the spaceplanes, they were thrown clear, no fatalities. Its replacement, also named Ragnar, has no central tower: it's just lots of fuel, lots of RCS monoprop, 8 Clamptron Seniors and 16 standard Clamptrons on the outer fuel tanks, and 5 standard Clamptrons on a tail hub. Ragnar III (slightly different design) has 6 orange fuel tanks mounted linearly around a 27-man core (sorry no photo yet) with 6 standard Clamptrons mounted on the tanks, 5 on a tail hub and just 1 Clamptron Senior on the nose. This also has a Kethane scanner and a medium converter. No motors since it's intended to stay in orbit around Kerbin. ALL my ships and stations are SSTO, with no booster stages employed at any point. My record SSTO payload on the pad has been 860 tons and took 55 flight-minutes to attain a 150km orbit.

1040252_319296144873056_2125547414_o.jpg SSTO Spaceplane, capable of making a turnaround to Mun complete with tail landing and back to Kerbin orbit, from the runway, without refueling.

Even when u bring friends in they are still alone. Stinks that modules dont automatically combine into 1 big module or if they could move between the station. I've got 17 people on my station and moving them around is a pain in the butt.

No harm in going with Mellojoe's suggestion. But rest assured interior movement between modules and capsules is a certainty for the core game. Until then, mods and a ton of imagination should foot the bill.

I've constructed 2 new fuel depots for 0.21.

Mun Depot:

Kerbin Depot:

The Kerbin Depot was hard to do, since parts needed to be lined up to look nice, but I am happy with the end result.

Also, to keep part counts low, I don't put RCS ports on the fuel that is getting docked. This makes it very hard to dock, but it looks cleaner and runs smoother.

Note: Most of the fuel/RCS modules have their docking bots still attached, since it's extra RCS. As I use RCS, they get jettisoned to crash in the planet below.

oh, since you asked nicely:

1185311_327777404024930_544608672_n.jpg

Kerbin Anchorage, the latest addition to my ongoing conquest of the solar system.

Specs:

Orbital mass: 425 tons (fully fueled, and yes it's missing a few engines - couple mishaps with space debris ) (plus one spaceplane at 4.7 tons)

Hence, surface thrust-to-weight ratio (Kerbin): 1.75 (not enough to get it off the ground!)

Crew capacity: 28 (current complement: 29 incl. 1 spaceplane pilot)

Power: capacities:

LOX: 33.6KT

Fuel: 27.5KT

Monopropellant: 8.7KT

Max. Electrical Output: 57.7KW

[EDIT]Part count: 871[/]

Orbital mechanics:

Apoapsis: 151.2km

Periapsis: 149.5km

Period: 36m13s

Inclination: 0.1 degree

Orientation: 0.0 mark 0 (North, nose to polar horizon)

Notes: This station is as yet unfinished. Just some housekeeping, a few more modules (a zero-gravity gymnasium which I have to design, for starters, plus some construction bots, spacer rigs, some more habitation modules, more crew canisters and the Kerbal Escape System. Expect the total mass to quadruple (and the part count to increase tenfold).

And the RAM requirement to triple o.0

I've decided that one's getting decommissioned, there's too many solar panels and too many struts, the physics engine is having too hard a time with it (took me seven real hours just to dock a Mun lander to it!)

Decommissioning can be rather fun. Recently I did so with my munar orbital station, as it didn't have the base for much growth. The crew got to watch it deorbit and crash into the Mun from the supply craft.

Fun Fact: The ISS is expected to be retired in 2020. Russia has plans to disconnect its modules from the station and use them as the start for their own next station which will also serve as a craft assembly point for interplanetary missions.

wow really cool tim20913!

I finally got the hang of docking! So here is my first Spacestation!

68 Tons and 245 parts, it was assembled in 6 pieces, all with the same launch rocket and tug to put them together :)

I want to make it bigger but all this together makes ALOT of lag

It has 10 crew compartments, a shuttle with nuclear engines and room for 5 including pilot.

Also a big comm array with a 1 man emergency escape pod and maintenance pod like in the movie "2001: A space odyssey"

No worry's none of us where when we tried at first. I think my first attempt ended with 1 ship running out of rcs and no longer being able to manouvre. My second attempt smashed the ships together so hard that the result wasn't 2 docked ships but a debri field.

cool station, what is the box thing with the kerbals in it? :D

I tried deliberately exploding and crashing used up rockets and tugs into eachother but now i have a ring of debris orbiting my station xD

wanted to finish it with 6 docks in total, but my super computer slows down to a crawl. so much lag, so sad :'( and i really can not upgrade my PC any more lol.

ps. got to dock 5, number 6 is not possible, my pc tells me to wait for an alien race to give us super computers to do this.

Can tell you one tip that will help make a small difference: relax on the RCS units. Four to a layer does the job quite well especially with that size of craft. With what I put together for my Taurus station, you should have a bit to go yet before hitting lag hiccups and long before framerate drop. I have to wonder what other programs you are running in the background, or if you have any craft inside on-rails boundary to add to the load. In many cases, it isn't so much the game causing the issues, as what burden you are placing on your pc with other programs.

Finally have my Space Station fully completed. Besides from my interplanetary space vehicle ofc.

I've unoriginally named it the World Space Station.

Took inspiration from the ISS, and WSS that is in the movie Mission to Mars.

Apologies in advance for the size of the pictures.

Started to lag a little for me 2 modules ago.

I wish the giant Ring span :(
