Just started The Final Empire. Too early to judge, but prologue seems to be promising.

We sadly live in an age (well, I do...) where our reflexes have been trained on first impressions. Clickbait on Facebook isn't really clickbait because, like the remaining fish in a pond, I've learned not to bite it. Same with titles that list book n of the <xyz> series. I'm not saying it is bad — far from that — just that my first incline is to avoid it when I see it recommended by my online bookseller of choice, or by BookBup, unless someone tells me to check it out (like you do).  Too many not-so-good experiences.

So for the uninitiated, where does it fall, in the say, Pratchett/Martin/Rothfuss/Tolkien spectrum?

He has great world building and magic mechanics, and the characters are somewhat relatable. The story isn’t too dark but is VERY extensive throughout all of his books.
