In this context, I'm disappointed that my brain insists on following "it was twenty years ago today" with "Sgt Pepper taught the band to play." Probably why everyone is using that exact phrase.

But such a preventable tragedy, especially given the previous close calls such as STS-27, which probably only survived because the missing tile was over the spot where there was an aluminum antenna mounting plate.

Wasn't STS-27 the one where 800 tiles where damaged or something like that number.

Terrifying that the only thing that saved Atlantis was an antenna over the missing tile. It's a miracle that it made it back down so badly damaged. The crew of Columbia are missed dearly, what a horrible tragedy.
