Newbs and the new tutorials

We haven't seen the full tutorial experience but I thought the IGN preview video was interesting. Here's a guy who doesn't know how to kerbal who has been thrown in to the game, presumably using the new tutorials.

Have the tutorials made him any better than he would have been in KSP1? It seems like a lot of the same problems to me, although he only had a couple of hours. He did seem to enjoy himself.

Will people still be going to youtube searching for the bald Scot to teach them the basics?

If I'm not wrong Matt Lowne said that the journalist present (like this guy from IGN) didn't have the same 4090 pcs Youtubers and streamers had.

Anyway an interesting take, especially among all the KSP experts present.

Probably, just like me still using the wiki on the second monitor for Minecraft despite them adding a recipe book ages ago, but it's a very important thing that hours of youtubing with the game closed are no longer a requirement to enjoy the game.

Well, little point in googling kerbal space program tutorial or something along these words if what you're looking for is in the game. Including all the basics and who knows what else.

I'm self-taught, I don't think I watched a single Scott Manley tutorial (maybe aside from gravity turn after the aerodynamics changed because that was new).

It's not like anyone is going to magically click after watching a tutorial, be it on youtube or in the game. Practice, practice practice. Trial and error. And with 2 hours on the journalist's hand, when their actual job was to thoroughly review the game, there wasn't much time to learn.

Dude's a noob and got to orbit within 3 hours with no youtube help... I'd say they're effective

There is another interesting newb look here: https://www.space.com/kerbal-space-program-2-first-look-video-exclusive

This is an interesting example because the guy thought the prograde marker was a target to follow to get to orbit. He does seem to get to space at a later attempt.

Another positive impression though.

This guy on the other hand... he was still trying to follow the marker after it was pointing to the ground

Happy he seemed to enjoy it though :)

They probably need to add this:

To the tutorials

They definitely need to add a tutorial for rendezvous - IIRC, I didn't remember seeing one in the training center list.  And with it, the tricks and tips for non-aligned planes.  After playing KSP RP-1, I'll always smile at stock KSP for making Kerbin and the Mun being in equatorial orbits.  SO much harder when not in plane.  However necessary for Minus, Duna, and polar orbits.
