Map view direction of spacecraft arrow

Recommended Posts

I strongly suggest that in the map view your spacecraft should have a 3D arrow showing what direction your ship is pointing. THIS WOULD BE EXTREMELY HELPFUL to me. The navball is a little like this, but it would be better if you could see in 3D where you are pointing.

In KSP the before part of the orbit was a brighter color and the after part was less bright. I prefer it that way. Now it got flipped..

I’m talking an arrow showing where the spacecraft is pointing in the map view. Like a 3d navball, but an arrow.

I always thought small brighter points on the orbit line that traveled in the direction of the orbit.  Not too many, just enough, depending on zoom level, so that 3 or 4 are in view.  For all orbits in view, not just active vessel, though maybe less bright the further away the orbit segment from the camera, but still discernibly bright enough to know the orbit direction

This is really not needed. We don't need big arrow obstructing already cluttered UI.

You have a small spacecraft that rotates and is visible which gives you direction. Orbit direction is  shown by difference of brightness of the orbital path in map

Not the orbit direction, the direction of where the spacecraft is pointing. You know the little spacecraft icon? Replace that with a small arrow or replica of the spacecraft to show where it is pointing at that time. Like a 3d Navball, as I have said previously. It would make burns more easier at least for me. And I know about the 3d spacecraft. I think this idea is needed to see where the spacecraft is in relation to a celestial body or just space.

A subtle animation would also work, like a ripple that moves in the same direction as the orbit. Similar to the SOI entry and exit markers pulsing in and out respectively.

Something like this would certainly be nice.

However the OP is suggesting an indication of the actual orientation of the vessel, not the prograde direction.

I’d be happy with prograde direction marker on the Map, and/or a greater variation in brightness between “current orbit” / “subsequent orbit” lines. Right now the difference isn’t terribly great and I often have to look at the lower-left UI to see how much time remains until Ap/Pe, then look at the Map again to determine which direction I’m orbiting around a body. This information (is my orbit prograde or retrograde relative to the body’s direction of rotation?) should be more intuitively obvious.
