[0.1.2.0] Decoupling failing if probe is on previous stage + fairing

I encountered the same bugs just several time. This bugs definitely appears when you make 2 stage rocket with fairing and it has 2 probes on upper and previous stages. So stages can't decouple or craft crashes. In my video I have 2 examples: 1st when stage didn't decouple, 2nd when craft crashed

2 Things would be nice for testing that:

  1. Craft file
  2. Save File

That's somewhat reminiscent of a decoupling issue I keep running into.  But your craft kinda looks like you have parts offset such that they're inside of one another.  If that's the case, then that seems like it could be the root of your problem to me.

I agree with Anth12, your craft and/or save file would be nice to have for testing.

Thats the primary reason why I want the save and craft files. KSP2 has 2 really bad part drift issues that can move parts inside other parts.

Here the crafts. Axiom craft is in 1st case in video, bug testing craft is in 2nd

The green highlighted tank below is clipped into other parts. That's the problem. If you remove the tank and place it to the bottom node and don't move it up this craft works.

Expanding upon what Anth12 has already explained.  I can't call this an example of any bug in the game.

The large fuel tank is directly attached to the bottom of the spark engine.  They're not attached to each other via the decoupler.  That's why things aren't separating here.

You've offset the large fuel tank from the spark engine so they look like they're not attached, but they still are.

This highlights something that I think can be very counter-intuitive about KSP.  Just because things look like they're attached visually, they might not be.  When you attach a part to another part, and then move/rotate the attached part away from the first, they might look separated.  But, they are not.

I rearranged things so they were attached "properly" and this craft behaves like you'd expect during decoupling.

I do want to add this.  This highlights just how much freedom KSP gives us in building our crafts.  And we frequently abuse it to get the looks and behavior we want.  But this can be very problematic if you don't have a rather in depth understanding of how the parts attach to one another.  It might be a design flaw.  But I don't think it's going away anytime soon.  And I for one don't want it too.

As Scott Manley says, fly safe :)
