UI element flicker

Recommended Posts

While in the flight screen (the one you get to first when launching), the UI elements (staging stack, nav ball, orientation gizmo) all flicker excessively when the background behind them has non-solid colors. By that I mean if it is just empty black sky then it is not that noticeable, but when there is landscape or a planet in the background they flicker a lot.

Simple way to show is to open an empty campaign and load the K2 default rocket and go to the launch pad. On the launch pad swing the camera down where most of the UI is layered on top of empty sky and the problem is mostly gone, but if you swing the camera up to the top (Z = 90), the flickering of the nav ball and stage stack goes bonkers.

It looks to be related to making the UI elements have transparency, but the images behind are being randomly taken from elsewhere on the screen.

All of the UI elements with an amount of transparency, including the hamburger, Kerbal viewpoint, Staging window, the text map telling you which celestial body you are in their sphere of influence etc. have artifacting constantly, in both VAB and in-flight views. The artifacting is less prominent when in space, but that may just be different things that are less visible artifacting.

What you are describing looks a lot like this bug that has been reported. It is reportedly being investigated by the developers and partners (AMD).
