And the Voyage of VICCTER: An Elcano Rover

Some time ago, I was thinking of some mission ideas in KSP. Then it hit me: Minmus is ice cream. If an ice cream store were there, it would have unlimited resources. 

And so came The Brain Freeze: A state-of-the-art ice cream making facility, for Minmus! And an Elcano rover that happened to be in the same save.

It has to be launched this way because my available fairings were too small, and the drag from it on top made it horrendously flip-happy.

As you can imagine, getting that stage to separate successfully was a nightmare.

Now getting to Minmus itself.

(I detached the transfer stage mid-course so it would crash into the surface)

The Brain Freeze has landed!

Now it's time... for dessert!

The tourist crew accompanying us gets their own table. 

Actually, they're the only other crew with us, but ssshhh...

Just need a moment to make the ice cream.

The captain will now take your order. We have mint, mint, and mint.

Of course, the captain gets her own table, to enjoy a special delight not avaliable to the customers: chocolate.

In theory, someday the crew will return. Until then, their landing site would be the focus of a voyage never before accomplished by our space agency: an Elcano. Elcano is where you circumnavigate a celestial body by either land or sea. It's very hard, and I figured Minmus would be a good starting point, as it is small and very flat. But you can't do an Elcano if you don't have a rover there, so it was time to launch BERT.

Landed. Um, sometime between this mission and TBF, I turned my graphics settings down, so you can't see the shadows of ships on terrain. Yeah, it's wonderful.

Jeb and Bill will stock up on ice cream for the journey.

Their last meal ever outside of the rover.

VICCTER is now ready for a grand undertaking. Now it just needs to be driven...
