Suggestion: KSC Museum

Recommended Posts

I'll whip something up in photoshop later to explain this better for Visulizations.

In Ksp1 I always parked ships somewhere and placed a flag to say what the ship was, and what it did that was great.
Like a mini personal space museum.

My idea, is that we could have somehow place ships that would not have a poly count, maybe a img or something resembling the ship. and just be able to write about it, what it did, who drove it, how far, and other mission stats.
idk, I'd think it would be cute.

I know, it would take a long time to be able to do, but LET ME PHOTOSHOP something for you all to see what I mean. I'll try my best to get it looking like its in-game already

stay tuned for some nice photoshop work ;)

BASICALLY you have something like this, optional, and you get the stats of the ship, or some notes you wanna put down. Something to keep ships in view so you can feel accomplished? I've been to the Nasa Space Museum and I think doin something like that would be cool in game.....image.png?ex=6597f3c9&is=65857ec9&hm=dc0

in the VAB or something, you can have the option to add to the collection, or, after a mission, you can Recover, OR send to museum....?

I'd love the ability to keep ships when recovering them instead of trading them for resources later so that specific vehicles get meaning. Not just the model that flew to the mun but THe exact rocket that did that. Then you could either display  somewhere or reuse them!

something like this

a camera system to pan around and stuff. Allowing multiplayers to visit and see your adventures and stuff. Really push for social interaction for mulitplayer. A good jump forward to do something on the side as kerbins. a bit of Role playing

to make it easy, you would have the side library on the left, you get to see 1 at a time.

Each time you launch, you can 'right click' cockpit or something, Option like:  Record from here
Possible screenshot for poster background? Add some cute flair. Creative screenshot moments for creators.

I'm not sure how to code or anything like that, so idk if it would work.

Imagine this:
You just find out your new friend plays Ksp2. You are invited to join his game. You go visit his museum, and you start from planet, to planet, going through each build and what it was used for.
Some of the 3d models of the craft are just a lander leg that was recovered, but the background image is a glorious trip to Duna! your friend laughs. "Yea, keep going, you'll see the rescue mission!"

Idk, thoughts?

Does anyone remember playing Animal Crossing on the switch during covid? Lets make that same social "Show and Tell" they had with bugs and animals...? but with rockets and other near misses?

How about being able to attach screenshots to flags?

Updated picture if you are interested.

Would be cool of having a museum were you can safe a model of a rocked after a mission with maybe a little text, blueprints and screenshots taken during the mission. When later visiting the museum you could see the models from missions which you deemed crucial for your space program (during that safe)

Not only that, but going to your friends Museum and checking their stuff out.
Socializing, and adding a roleplaying element to it.
Or, a way to share your stuff with the public.
Imagine the stories you could share. How missions, parameters, and  even kerbal-like missions that kinda dont work out perfectly.

There was other games that did this in ways, where in multiplayer, not only get to join and help and do with, but look back at what was done. A good way to snapshot progress to share.

I'm not trying to push this to be done. I just like to debate. ^-^

You know, with the new workspace system, you can kind of already do this. Merge all your most significant vessels into one "Museum" Workspace, move and rotate them as you please to display them.

That would be about halfway there in the meantime. Down the road, maybe the Devs could be convinced to let us put up some little text sign displays inside Workspaces, which could be useful for things other than just the 'museum' display. For non-museum workspaces, signs could be used for documenting what part of the workspace does what. Maybe you use the workspace to store a bunch of slight variants of one craft, and you can leave yourself/(whoever you share the file with), little notes as to which variant craft is which. Like "This Variant has extra fuel for Tylo Landings", "This Variant is designed for 50 Tons to Low Kerbin Orbit". Or if you build a workspace for a rocket, plus all its different payloads, your signs could note, "Mun Orbiter Payload", "Mun Lander Payload", "Duna Orbiter Payload" Ext
