the whole direct vs relay mechanic was terribly communicated to the player and more often that not just left players frustrated (see the number of Reddit threads where people were asking why their vessels weren't passing communication through).

Agreed. I’ve been on both sides of those Reddit threads. As much as I enjoyed it, the whole commnet system was ironically poorly communicated imo.

Is combining antennas a thing in ksp2?

I had calculator for everything i wanted at ksp 1, including antennas. Now it is one real life math less, i hope they adds it back when they finetunes difficulty levels.

  • Why is the RA-15 at 300 kg considered XS size?
  • Why are RA-100 and Communotron 88-88 unlocked in the same node? The bigger / heavier one should be unlocked before the deployable one.
  • Why are RA-100 and Communotron 88-88 both SM size? IMO RA-100 should be M and Communotron 88-88 should be XS.

I don't even know what to do with this feedback... @Dakota maybe it can be added to a list? Thanks!

I am pretty sure it is considered XS because of it's attachement point radius, cause the base plate of the antenna is the same size as XS Parts.
I was confused by this at first, too.

I'm firmly on the fence with ComNet. I do like the ease of play of coms being strictly range-based. I also liked the challenge of linking the network. I would most definitely like a visual representation of coms.

I remember coming across 'bug reports' in the forums in the last month or so where a (Jool?) probe had full-control via orbiting relays with beefier antennas than what the little probe-lander had, but that science-data could not be 'beamed' back to the KSC using the valid CommNet connection...

  1. Has anyone else come across this? (I "hope to" soon with a larger-scale, multi-craft Jool mission coming up)
  2. Does anyone know if CommNet connectivity is supposed to be enough for both control and science transmission?

Also, does anyone know if KSP1-style "colour-grading" on the CommNet icon (if not outright %-strength) might be coming?
Ex: 60%-100% = Green
30%-60% = Yellow
0%-30% = Red
